Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and oversee program operations for Be Next Brightmoor and the FAE&T Plus Program. This includes the administration of supportive services, distribution of participant stipends, and processing and management of milestone payments. The Sr. Project Manager will provide direct support to Be Next Brightmoor participants, manage operations for FAE&T Plus, and offer technical support to Individual Detroit Organizations (IDOs).


Serving as the liaison between Career Centers, IDOs, and participants, the Sr. Project Manager ensures coordination of services, compliance with program requirements, and achievement of participant outcomes. In partnership with the Mayor’s Workforce Development Board (MWDB), Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC) develops and implements innovative programs that help Detroit residents access supportive services, education, and workforce opportunities while addressing barriers to employment and long-term self-sufficiency.

Requirements

  • Provide excellent customer service to participants, IDOs, and Career Center staff.
  • Manage program operations for Be Next Brightmoor and FAE&T Plus, including supportive services, participant stipend payments, and milestone payment processing.
  • Serve as DESC’s primary point of contact for IDOs and Career Center staff to ensure smooth coordination of participant services.
  • Provide direct support and management to program participants, ensuring their needs are met through timely services, stipends, and milestone payments.
  • Oversee administration and delivery of the FAE&T Plus Program, ensuring compliance and partner support.
  • Support IDOs in implementing program requirements, tracking participant progress, and accessing supportive services.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, investigate trends, recommend modifications, and implement improvements.
  • Develop, plan, and implement activities, workshops, and public events to support participants and promote program goals.
  • Prepare program budgets; monitor, verify, and reconcile expenditure of budgeted funds.
  • Collect, analyze, and report program data, including both qualitative and quantitative outcomes.
  • Exhibit professionalism, diplomacy, and the ability to build strong working relationships with participants, IDOs, Career Centers, and community stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Business, Education, Public Administration, Social Work, or another related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional work experience may be considered.

  

Skills and Specifications

  • Strong understanding of supportive services, workforce development, and participant-centered program operations.
  • Ability to administer stipends, milestone payments, and supportive service funding with accuracy and accountability.
  • Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects concurrently, with strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to prepare timely and accurate reports.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality, particularly when handling participant and partner information.
  • Previous experience with human-centered design or design thinking is desirable.
  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance; field work is required for this position.
