Description
The Program Manager will play a dual role in administering and delivering workforce development services as part of the BE Next pilot initiative. This position combines program administration with direct service to participants, supporting them in overcoming barriers, developing career readiness skills, and achieving long-term employment retention. The Program Manager will also serve as a motivator, connector, and mentor, helping participants build confidence, strengthen employability, and successfully transition into meaningful career pathways.
Requirements
Program Administration
- Support daily operations of the BE Next workforce development pilot, including documentation, reporting, scheduling, and compliance tracking.
- Monitor participant progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare outcome reports for leadership and stakeholders.
Participant Services
- Facilitate career readiness workshops covering topics such as workplace behavior, communication, and conflict resolution.
- Provide group mentoring, helping participants set goals, develop strategies, and remain engaged in the program.
- Identify and address barriers to employment (transportation, childcare, housing, financial, behavioral health, etc.), referring participants to internal or community-based resources.
- Motivate and empower participants to pursue training, employment, and personal growth opportunities.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Coordinate with Career Coaches, IDOs (In Detroit Organizations), and external partners to ensure holistic services.
Additional Duties
- Support evaluation and continuous improvement by collecting feedback from participants and partners.
- Contribute to the positive culture of the Barrier Removal team through collaboration, innovation, and servant leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, Education, Workforce Development, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in workforce development, case management, or program coordination.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, connect with, and mentor diverse participants.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

Requirements
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance; field work is required for this position.
- Length of position is contingent on program funding.
