We are seeking a motivated and organized CDL Dispatcher to join our logistics team. Are you ready to be part of something amazing?

  

The CDL Dispatcher will coordinate and manage the scheduling of CDL truck drivers to pick up and deliver containers from the port to their respective destinations. This role involves managing routes, monitoring driver progress, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and providing excellent service to vendors and partners.


Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate the scheduling of CDL truck drivers for container pickups and deliveries.
  • Plan and optimize routes to ensure timely arrivals, considering traffic, weather, and port schedules.
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers to provide updates, resolve issues, and monitor progress.
  • Track container locations and statuses to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including hours of service (HOS) and safety standards.
  • Work with port personnel to arrange container releases and resolve documentation issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of pickups, deliveries, driver logs, and discrepancies.
  • Resolve unexpected situations such as delays, container damage, or breakdowns.
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring timely and safe deliveries, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
  • Enter and update dispatch data in the company’s transportation management system (TMS) and generate performance reports.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or related certifications preferred.
  • Previous experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation coordination, preferably with port container pickup experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the transportation industry, particularly in port and intermodal operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact with drivers, coworkers and port personnel effectively.
  • Proficiency with dispatch software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as business needs vary seasonally.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while coordinating dispatch schedules.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Occasional need for on-site visits to the port or other warehouses to resolve issues.
