Tasked with the responsibility of managing incoming and outgoing shipments, Shipping & Receiving Leads oversee the movement of goods while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company and customer requirements. They utilize SAP and Microsoft applications to maintain detailed records, track inventory, and process shipments. This role requires strong knowledge of working with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and experience coordinating with shipping brokers to secure timely and cost-effective transportation. Primary duties include scheduling, verifying shipment accuracy, and ensuring proper documentation is completed. While forklift certification is not a core requirement, candidates should be willing to learn and operate a forklift as needed to support warehouse operations. Shipping Coordinators also collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies, monitor inventory levels, and contribute to overall supply chain efficiency. This position demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
- Familiar with and consistently uses required PPE; encourages others to follow PPE standards.
- Proficient in the safe and efficient use of common tools and equipment in the shipping/receiving department.
- Willing to learn and operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment; safe operation is expected once trained (forklift certification is a plus).
- Maintains accurate inventory records, with working knowledge of SAP for receiving, issuing, and tracking items.
- Uses Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook, Word) for shipment documentation, reporting, and communication.
- Knowledge of third-party logistics (3PL) processes and experience coordinating with shipping brokers to schedule cost-effective shipments.
- Capable of quoting and coordinating LTL, small parcel, and full truckload shipments.
- With guidance, can process small parcel shipments and prepare proper documentation.
- Follows established safety practices and adheres to quality standards of work.
- Supports, communicates, and reinforces the mission, values, and culture of the organization.
- Helps maintain organization of warehouse and yard/backlot by keeping inventory separated and clearly identified by material type.
- Coordinates with vendors for pick-ups/deliveries as needed and ensures materials are delivered to production lines and properly transferred to the correct location.
- Identifies and communicates potential shortages or stock-outs of parts and materials; familiar with product lines and storage locations.
- Properly sets up, labels, and packages shipments, including VSM shipments, to meet customer and carrier requirements.
- Moves items accurately from Work-in-Process (WIP) to Finished Goods locations.
- Able to perform Post Goods Issue (PGI) transactions in SAP with minimal assistance.
