Job Summary
The Fleet Manager oversees the operation, maintenance, compliance, and strategic planning of AET fleet of vehicles and specialized equipment. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for vehicle procurement, lifecycle management, company/DOT vehicle safety programs, and cost-effective fleet utilization. This role ensures that all fleet assets are maintained in a safe condition, cost-effective, and aligned with company needs across all office locations. The Fleet Manager is responsible for collaboration with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and to ensure smooth fleet operations in support of engineering, environmental, and field-testing services.
This role ensures that all fleet equipment and vehicles support AET’s field operations efficiently while adhering to safety, regulatory, and budgetary requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Manage the company-wide fleet program and specialized equipment, including procurement, assignment, utilization, maintenance, and disposal of vehicles and field equipment.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, industry safety standards, and internal fleet policies by regularly monitoring practices and implementing improvements as needed.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop, refine, and standardize operational practices and fleet policies across AET, ensuring consistency and alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance program that maximizes vehicle and equipment uptime and safety.
- Track vehicle performance, fuel consumption, service records, and total cost of ownership using fleet management software.
- Collaborate with field leaders and regional office managers to ensure vehicles meet operational requirements.
- Evaluate and enhance current fleet management processes and procedures to ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Explore implementation of telematics systems and ensure vehicle usage aligns with company policies.
- Evaluate and recommend vehicle purchases or leases based on usage trends, cost analysis, and replacement schedules.
- Build relationships with vendors, dealerships, service providers, and negotiate cost-effective solutions to support AET’s fleet.
- Manage fleet budget, expenses, and vendor contracts in partnership with the Finance team.
- Serve as a liaison with insurance providers for vehicle claims, renewals, and risk management.
- Maintain accurate vehicle inventory, registration, and licensing records across all states of operation.
- Work closely with Operations, Safety, Finance, and HR departments to align fleet strategies with company goals.
- Support sustainability initiatives by evaluating fuel-efficient or alternative-fuel vehicle options.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Automotive Technology, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience managing a commercial or corporate fleet.
- Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and state-specific transportation regulations.
- Understanding of vehicle lifecycle cost modeling and asset management strategies.
- Proficiency with fleet management system software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and vendor relationships.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-site fleet operations.
- Background in construction, engineering, or environmental services industry.
- Knowledge of GPS tracking systems, fuel card programs, and maintenance software.
Work Environment
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will occasionally be required to travel to AET regional offices, vehicle vendors, or job sites.

Pay Transparency
Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $85,000-$100,000 annually per hour based on skill set and experience.
