Position Overview: The Associate Human Resources Manager leads and directs some routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department and serves in a Generalist capacity where needed. This role maintains a significant focus on facilitating and addressing employee relations and performance management issues, assisting with the training and development of our Leaders, understanding and supporting the full cycle talent acquisition process , and reviewing and executing the termination process following company policies and procedures. This position supports all facets of HR when needed to include Benefits and Worker Compensation. 

 

The Associate Human Resources Manager reports to the Vice President of People Strategies and Human Resources and supports and drives efforts across the Enterprise.

 

Essential Job Functions  

  • Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
  • Provide support and guidance to other HR team members, management, and staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations, and terminations
  • Partners with other HR Leaders to support the business needs and achieve the short and long term organizational goals
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations to include California, and recommended best practices; provide counsel and training to management on the administration of HR-related company policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Assist with the application of policies and procedures across an organization; interprets both policies and changes to policy
  • Manage and monitor unemployment claims, appeals, and charges
  • Support and partner on HR training programs to include facilitating learning and development programs, and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements where appropriate
  • Performs special projects and assist in any facet of HR where needed to include Benefits and Worker’s compensation.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of human resources management experience
  • Must have ER experience
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Strong internal and external customer service focus with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously focused on results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Positive attitude and self-motivated
  • Willingness and desire to work in a shared service environment

Other Skills/Abilities 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS/Payroll and related systems
