Job Title: Criminal Justice Data Assistant (15-19 hours per week)

 

Job Summary:                                                   

CASES is a New York City nonprofit at the forefront of pretrial services, alternatives to incarceration, and behavioral health treatment programs for people impacted by the criminal legal system. We are seeking a part-time Data Assistant to join our Data and Analytics team. This role offers a hands-on learning opportunity for a college student interested in criminal justice, data, and research. The Data Assistant will help track recidivism outcomes, support data reporting and analytics, and contribute to the daily operations of the unit. The ideal candidate is punctual, detail-oriented, organized, exercises sound judgment, and is eager to build skills in working with criminal justice data systems, including a customized Salesforce database.

 

Shift Hours: This position is part-time and available Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm for 15-19 hours per week.

 

Salary: The salary for the role is $23.34 per hour.

 

Location Address: 151 Lawrence Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Our office is easily accessible by public transportation.

 

Workplace Flexibility: Remote - For roles that are 100% remote.

 

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Learn and follow procedures for tracking participant criminal history data.
  • Navigate and develop expertise in a criminal justice database to extract criminal history information.
  • Enter legal history information in case records in the Salesforce database to create comprehensive legal history profiles.
  • Follow quality control procedures to ensure accurate data entry.
  • Compile data into tables.
  • Prepare criminal history data for monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines.
  • Conduct ad hoc information and data requests for agency staff.
  • Assist Manager, Data and Analytics with data projects.
  • Perform duties in accordance with CASES’ mission, cultural competency, anti-discriminatory and other policies and procedures. 
  • Perform other job-related tasks and projects as assigned. 

 

What We Are Looking For: 

  • Bachelor’s in criminal justice junior/senior student.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Proficient in computers and software, including Microsoft Excel and Word.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • Strong interest in data exploration and visualization tools (e.g. Power BI).
