Purpose & Scope:
This position applies its technical background and complete understanding of the full range of testing methods and activities at the Gambrinus Metallurgical Laboratory (GML) to facilitate the testing of samples, the completion of the final metallurgical review, and the metallurgical release and certification of customer orders. As a part of this function, the employee will be required to assemble the test result data for individual orders and compare those date to the appropriate requirements for each order to accurately verify metallurgical compliance. This position will also be responsible for, or provide support for, the planning and execution of quality systems activities within the GML, requiring interaction with corporate quality associates, Metallurgical Quality Assurance employees, external auditors, and 3rd party vendors. This position will also be the fill-in-supervisor to cover periodically for vacations, holidays, and/or weekends.
Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer order testing requirements and ensure all laboratory testing meets customer specifi-cations to facilitate the metallurgical release of the product through effective use of our business and da-ta systems. This includes daily order car queue & review, identifying missed samples and ordering re-placements when necessary, completing final data reviews, recognizing non-conforming test results, and releasing conforming orders.
- Produce metallurgical certifications for orders after the release of the product is complete. The certifica-tion is required prior to shipment and customer receipt of the material. This includes final review of all heat and product testing, interpretation of customer comments and requirements, and utilization of the certification system.
- Participates in and manages activities related to quality systems that are required to maintain appropriate quality control, standards, and records, in accordance with internal and external (ASTM, ASM, ISO17025, ISO9001, etc.) standards. This includes creating and/or modifying operating standards and training modules, maintaining training records, arranging preventative maintenance, calibrations and ver-ifications with external vendors, and participating in internal/external audits.
- Help coordinate outsource testing of samples when GML requires additional test capacity during periods of increased sample/test volume or when testing requirements are outside of the GML internal capabili-ties. This includes working directly with test service providers, obtaining quotes and entering Maximo purchase order requests, and arranging shipment and return of samples as needed.
- Utilize technical background and laboratory expertise to identify, manage, and develop opportunities for continuous improvement (CI) with the potential to provide one or more of the following: safer operation, more accurate results, additional testing capabilities, improved productivity or efficiency, or reduced costs. Support activities for other team members lab capital improvements or continuous improvement projects.
- Serve as the fill-in supervisor, as needed, to cover for vacations, holidays and/or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in an analytical, quality, lab, manufacturing or other related technical role.
- Associate's Degree with at least 2 years of experience in an analytical, quality, lab, manufacturing or other related technical role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 7 years of experience in an analytical, quality, lab, manufacturing or other related technical role.
- Associate's Degree with at least 4 years of experience in an analytical, quality, lab, manufacturing or other related technical role.
