The Clerical Lead ensures that the temple ordinances are kept pure, recorded accurately, and made available to worthy Church members in accordance with First Presidency standards. This role performs administrative tasks and temple-related ordinance support and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a team of administrative staff to ensure the proper operation of office functions, under the direction of the temple recorder. This position contributes to an environment where patrons may have a positive and uplifting experience each time they come to the temple. Where applicable, this role is a people manager role that supervises the office clerks in the temple and works to optimize workflow and ensure accuracy and efficiency in all administrative processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a positive patron and worker experience through warm and welcoming interactions.
  • Regularly supervise and/or provide training to employees and volunteers.
  • Ensure understanding of and compliance to established policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the completion of scheduling appointments, recording ordinances, and other administrative tasks.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Lead special projects as directed by the temple recorder.
  • Manage inventory and budget of needed supplies.
  • Manage any necessary legal and regulatory documentation and verify and review ordinance paperwork.
  • Assists with other responsibilities as assigned by the temple recorder.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of any combination of related experience or progress towards or completion of a relevant university (post-secondary) degree or an industry-recognized certification, to include:
    • Former work-related leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage others.
  • Proficiency with computers and other technology, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to sensitively handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and adjust when necessary, including early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.
