- Strategic Leadership:
- Oversee the Library and Foundation’s fundraising efforts, serving as the Executive Director and Library liaison to the Foundation as well as the liaison with affinity groups of the PGCMLS, including the “Friends” groups. Provides strategic direction and planning for advancement operations, aligning with the overall goals of and strategic direction of PGCMLS.
- To Serve as an ambassador and advocate for PGCMLS and Foundation.
- Communicate and maintain good working relations with the PGCMLS CEO, Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors, Executive and Leadership Teams, library staff, as well as local municipalities, county and state agencies.
- Advise the Foundation’s Board of Directors and “Friends” groups about nonprofit, fundraising and governance best practices so as to ensure compliance with the organizations’ bylaws as well as federal, state and local laws.
- Recommend policies and establish procedures for the Foundation in compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Ensures compliance with fundraising regulations, ethical standards, and organizational policies.
- Fundraising & Donor Relations:
- Create and execute an annual development plan engaging strategies to raise a diversified and sustainable funding base to support the mission and growth objectives of the PGCMLS and Foundation.
- Ensure that the necessary infrastructure and support systems are in place to build strong donor relationships and maximize fundraising success.
- Oversee the integrity, security and optimization of the advancement database and software to ensure data quality and accuracy.
- Develop and Implement reporting and analytical tools to support fundraising, stewardship, and donor engagement programs.
- Manage gift processing procedures and donor stewardship.
- Team Management
- Leads and manages the PGCMLS Advancement & Foundation teams, including recruitment, performance management and professional development.
- Provide direction and oversight for the Advancement Assistant.
- Provide leadership and oversight for the Library’s Public Relations and Marketing team to ensure strategic alignment of campaign designs and related materials so as to generate clear and consistent communications that will raise funds for and promote PGCMLS.
- Cross-Department Collaboration
- Works closely with internal PGCMLS departments to ensure the collection of accurate information and data as well as the strategic alignment with all advancement and fundraising activities.
- Actively engage with library staff and administrators, as appropriate, to ensure an ongoing understanding of funding needs and opportunities for advancement.
- Budget Management
- Works closely with the CEO, Finance Department, and Foundation’s Board Treasurer to:
- Develop and Manage the PGCMLS Foundation Budget and Funding Process.
- Develop & Manage the PGCMLS Communications & Outreach Budget.
- Facilitate annual renewal of the MOU between PGCMLS and the Foundation.
- Ensure the release of all restricted assets are invested in accordance with the donor’s intentions.
- Works closely with the CEO, Finance Department, and Foundation’s Board Treasurer to:
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in business management, public administrations, marketing, communications, or related field required. Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy and Development, or comparable field preferred.

Ten years' (10+) years fundraising and development experience.

Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential strongly preferred.

Membership in fundraising professional associations and alignment with the AFP code of ethical principles and standards preferred.
- Ability to gain thorough knowledge of PGCMLS’s practices, policies and procedures.
- Ability to act as a representative of PGCMLS’s to the public.
- Proven ability to develop cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies that expand a donor base and increase revenue.
- Knowledge of board governance and skill in cultivating board engagement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit fundraising techniques.
- Proven strategic planning and project management skills.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and networking skills.
- Excellent research skills.
- Experience growing and managing a comprehensive fundraising department that includes outreach to government officials, individual major gifts, foundation grants and/or special events.
- Demonstrated ability to manage grant writing.
- Knowledge of public relations and marketing.
- Patience and tenacity in leading cultural change, securing buy-in, and building infrastructure.
- Creative, hardworking, and self-motivated team player who is passionate about public libraries and education.
- High level of integrity, diplomacy, and initiative.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, fund development tools and technology, and with databases.
- Willingness to travel (usually within the county), as needed and hold a valid driver’s license.
