About the Department

Do you like being in an active, indoor setting? Enjoy the tennis and pickleball atmosphere? Montgomery Parks is seeking a Tennis Racquet Stringer to provide professional racquet stringing, maintenance, and customization services at our indoor tennis facilities, Pauline Betz Addie Tennis Center and Wheaton Indoor Tennis. This role sets a standard of excellence in service and product knowledge regarding all types of strings, string patterns, and racquets. The Stringer contributes to sales revenue growth by providing exceptional service that encourages repeat business and referrals.

This is a seasonal (part-time) position with flexible hours, including weekdays, evenings, and weekends. Weekly schedules vary based upon the need for stringing services at each facility. Pay rate is based on experience and qualifications. Both facilities are open year-round.

Position Duties

Tennis Racquet Stringer (Starting at $16.00/hr.- $19.00/hr.)

  • Perform racquet stringing, re-stringing, maintenance, and customization using various stringing techniques and patterns to optimize racquet performance based on player needs and preferences.

  • Complete an average of two racquets per hour.

  • Ensure the stringing machine is properly maintained and calibrated.

  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate string type and tension based on their playing style and needs.

  • Inspect racquets for necessary repairs, including grip replacement, grommet strip, and bumper guard maintenance.

  • Maintain accurate records by completing a Racquet Maintenance Ticket for each service.

  • Ensure supplies are accurately tracked and accounted for while assisting with the inventory management to maintain optimal stock levels.

  • Ensure timely completion of racquet services and coordinate with staff to manage workload.

  • Assist in product selection and merchandising to enhance customer experience and drive sales.

  • Provide exceptional customer service via excellent communication and interpersonal skills, while fostering strong relationships with players, and encouraging repeat business.

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA) Certified Stringer (CS) or Master Racquet Technician (MRT) or previous stringing experience preferred.

  • Basic tennis industry knowledge regarding racquets, stringing patterns, and string types.

  • Strong customer service and sales skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with facility staff.

  • Strong time management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Other Qualifications

This position is seasonal (part-time) and does not include benefits. Pay rates are based on experience.

All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills and attend in-house orientation. Ages 16-17 must have a work permit if hired.

A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hiring.
