Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. (Farallon) has a full-time opening for a Project Engineer in the Irvine, CA area. This position is a hybrid role in the Irvine area to support 100 employees in Washington, Oregon & California. This is a full-time salaried exempt position.

Position Overview

 

We are looking for a motivated and talented project engineer to join our firm in our Irvine area office. You should be a self-starter and possess strong technical and writing skills to support a wide range of environmental projects. Our ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills, and a positive attitude. 


What we are looking for

 

The Project Engineer will perform professional engineering work supporting a broad range of projects that reflect Farallon’s core practices including: 

  • Remedial investigations and feasibility studies; 
  • Field investigations including drilling, injection work, and pilot testing; 
  • Remediation system design and construction oversight; 
  • Cleanup implementation including mass extraction, soil vapor or multi-phase extraction, injection, and ongoing operations and maintenance of exiting systems. 
  • Providing design support for vapor intrusion mitigation systems, soil vapor extraction systems, groundwater treatment systems, and injection design.   

The engineering work requires a basic professional knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques for soil, groundwater, surface water, and/or sediment remediation under the direction of senior engineering staff. 


 

What you will be doing at Farallon:  

  • Assist with preparation of system design documents, permit applications (e.g. SCAQMD, NPDES, well permits and others), construction plans, and technical reports; 
  • Assist with preparation of submittal documents for Water Board and DTSC reviews, WDR permitting, grading and land use permits; 
  • Prepare design calculations and analyses, construction cost estimates, and construction specifications; 
  • Review operations and maintenance records of system performance and manage system performance; 
  • Developing preliminary designs using AutoCAD under the direction of senior engineering staff; 
  • Plan and manage field investigations projects in accordance with prepared Work Plans, industry standards of care, and Farallon’s health and safety practices; 
  • Performing construction observation and quality assurance with assistance of senior staff; 
  • Professionally representing Farallon to clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and others; and 
  • Availability to travel at least 20 percent of the time or as required. 


Requirements

 Minimum Qualifications 

  • ABET accredited B.S. degree in civil, environmental, or related engineering discipline. 
  • Minimum three years of experience in environmental or civil consulting or similar field. 
  • Current Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and ability to sit the PE exam in California within the next two years. 
  • Valid driver’s license in California. 
  • Basic competency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and BlueBeam. 
  • Strong project management, written, and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This role also uses equipment necessary to perform specialized field tasks.


Salary 

Our best estimate of the base salary range for this position, located in the Irvine, California area is $105,000 - $115,000. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. Farallon reviews and updates salary ranges annually, and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Farallon’s total compensation package for our employee-owners.
