Where You Will Work   

Our global headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support global operations in finance, human resources, information technology, planning and more from the main office, satellite offices or online. Employees working on a flexible schedule collaborate online and in-person at our Collaboration Hub at the Cotton Center in Phoenix. The Collaboration Hub provides an open, flexible workspace for individuals and teams to come together for various business needs. Amenities at the Hub include a working café, phone booths and meeting rooms with technology tools for virtual and in-person collaboration.

What You Will Do

As a key member of our team, you will provide technical and operational leadership and support within the Integrated Remote Operations Center (IROC). This role focuses on a wide range of operational, mine planning, and safety aspects of the day-to-day operations at the site. Key focus areas include precision fragmentation, geomechanics (GMX) monitoring, production engineering, targeting, ore deliveries, and fleet management.  This role ensures IROC activities are aligned with safety standards, operational goals, and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborates closely with site operations and technical departments to support safe and efficient production outcomes. Supports the development of standards and their consistent application.

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams focused on fragmentation, geomechanics monitoring, production engineering, targeting, and fleet management. 
  • Align IROC operations with site goals, safety standards, and technical excellence. 
  • Champion the deployment of cutting-edge technologies to enhance remote mining operations. 
  • Analyze operational data to identify trends and drive performance improvements. 
  • Develop and implement standards and best practices across the organization. 
  • Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff, fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

What You Bring To Freeport

  • High School Diploma or GED + 11 years mining experience (including supervisory)

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field or discipline + 7 years mining experience (including supervisory)

OR

  • Master’s Degree in Mine Engineering or related Engineering discipline + 5 years mining experience (including supervisory)
  • Strong knowledge of mining operations, including GMX monitoring, fragmentation, production engineering, and fleet management.
  • Experience with remote operations technologies and integrated control systems. 
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and implement operational standards. 
  • Skilled in data analysis and performance monitoring. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Familiarity with safety and regulatory compliance in mining environments. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering/data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, AutoCAD).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diverse work experience in various areas of mine planning and operations
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Working knowledge of Minesight/Mine planning software

What We Offer You 

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $95,500-$134,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process. What We Require
