TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMME LEAD - OPERATIONS, LONDON OR BERLIN (INTERNAL VACANCY)

This senior role will report to the CFOO and lead a major organisational change programme at E3G. The programme will modernise systems and processes so that our infrastructure not only supports operational excellence but also actively strengthens E3G’s culture and values.

Background

By aligning ways of working with our mission and principles of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation, this programme will ensure that our systems enable—not constrain—the change we seek in the world.

This is a unique opportunity to shape how E3G works internally so that our values are lived in practice, and our mission for climate safety is delivered with integrity and effectiveness.

This fixed-term role will last 12–18 months.

The Role

The Transformation Programme Lead will combine strategic leadership with practical change expertise to design and deliver a multi-workstream programme across E3G. The role will focus on clarifying ways of working, implementing enabling systems and processes, and embedding cultural transformation.

This is not only a technical change programme; it is about shaping how we collaborate, decide, and deliver so that our infrastructure reflects and strengthens our culture. You will work across all levels of the organisation, building commitment, ensuring effective governance, and enabling colleagues to see their values reflected in the systems they use every day.

Together with the CFOO, and working closely with the Transformation Steering Group and Technology & IT Governance Committee, you will ensure the programme delivers sustainable impact, improves organisational effectiveness, and positions E3G to take advantage of emerging opportunities, including the responsible use of AI.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Lead the design and implementation of E3G’s organisational change framework.
  • Translate strategic ambitions into clear, deliverable roadmaps that reflect and reinforce organisational values.
  • Provide coaching and advice on programme and project management to senior colleagues.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

Culture and Values

  • Ensure transformation initiatives strengthen and embody E3G’s organisational values, making them tangible in everyday systems and ways of working.
  • Design processes that reduce barriers, promote transparency, and enable collaboration across teams and geographies.
  • Embed equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging at the heart of change initiatives, ensuring they are built into systems, policies, and practices.
  • Model inclusive leadership behaviours and support colleagues to do the same, fostering trust, openness, and accountability.
  • Use transformation as an opportunity to hardwire E3G’s culture of innovation, learning, and mission-driven impact into the organisation’s infrastructure.

Change Programme Delivery

  • Ensure robust programme and project management principles are applied across all workstreams.
  • Develop a clear organisational case for change, including cost–benefit analysis.
  • Work closely with the Transformation Steering Group and IT Governance Committee; establish further governance mechanisms if needed.
  • Partner with senior leaders and operational teams to implement systems improvements, service redesigns, and cultural change.
  • Anticipate and manage risks, resistance, and barriers to change.
  • Maintain programme records, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Support the development of E3G’s AI policy and practice, ensuring ethical, inclusive, and values-aligned use of emerging technologies.

Stakeholder Leadership and Influence

  • Build trusted relationships across E3G and with external partners.
  • Lead senior stakeholder engagement, managing expectations and building commitment.
  • Apply co-design principles and champion staff involvement in change initiatives.
  • Influence across organisational boundaries to secure resources and commitment.
  • Partner with internal communications to integrate effective engagement across all programme activities.

Team Leadership and Capability Building

  • Build organisational change capability through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
  • Design and deliver training to support staff through change.
  • Champion best practice in change management across the organisation.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning

  • Design and implement a framework to measure change adoption, cultural impact, and value for money.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to capture the perspectives of staff and leadership.
  • Produce reports and presentations for senior leaders and staff.
  • Promote evidence-based decision-making and continuous improvement.

Financial and Resource Management

  • Work with the CFOO, finance, IT, and grant management teams to deliver the programme within agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Manage the change programme budget, ensuring value for money.
  • Explore funding opportunities and assess when external consultancy support may be required.
  • Balance resource constraints with ambition to maximise mission impact.

 Experience and Skills

  • Extensive experience (7+ years) leading complex change programmes in large or multi-site organisations.
  • Proven track record in the not-for-profit, charity, or public sector.
  • Formal change management qualification (e.g., Prosci Practitioner/Advanced, CMI Level 7, or equivalent).
  • Experience influencing and advising at executive level.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate strategy into delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with credibility at all levels.
  • Budget management and resource planning experience.
  • Highly organised, with ability to prioritise, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

What We Offer

  • Fixed-term position 12-18 months.
  • The indicative annual salary range in the UK is £54,218 to £57,218 and in Germany is 74,454 to 77,454.
  • Work-life balance, enjoy a 35-hour work week with a hybrid work model.
