The job in a nutshell

This is a 6-month fixed-term contract to support the People Team in a generalist role covering all aspects of HR & People. The successful candidate will provide excellent People advisory skills to deliver strong organisational engagement, capability, conduct and performance across the business.

 

 

Who you will work with

 

Internal:           Key stakeholders including Senior Management Team, Team Leaders & Colleagues. Finance, IT and People Team.

 

External:           Experts in specialist people skills as required i.e. legal advisors.

 

 

 

What you will do

 

  • Work with Managers and People Business Partners to deliver business performance through an engaged and high performing culture.
  • Support our People and HR priorities into effective HR practices and delivering people solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Providing expert HR advice and guidance to managers and staff on the whole employee lifecycle - including complex casework, performance, attendance (wellbeing) and employee relations issues.
  • Run recruitment campaigns for single and multiple roles across all hiring types and parts of the business from warehouse to shops to corporate functions. Including writing job descriptions, selection processes, interviewing and offers.
  • Work with your Business Partner to ensure people costs stay within budget
  • Support the delivery of our Development plans through Induction, Coaching and Performance Management processes.
  • Conduct ER investigations and manage discipline and grievance issues including drafting of formal communications, meetings and outcomes according to Company Policy.
  • Work alongside BP’s and the People Administrator.
  • Maintain a clear understanding and providing up to date knowledge of the legal framework within which HR operates, developing HR policies in line with current legislation and keeping abreast of modern HR procedures and best practice.
  • Supporting the delivery of key HR initiatives and projects across the HR spectrum to deliver our People Plan.

Experience / Achievements

 

Essential:

  • Generalist HR skill set with some ER experience
  • High energy with lots of internal motivation and emotional resilience
  • Strong communicator and initiator
  • Good PC and systems skills using HR systems, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Well organised with attention to detail
  • Reliable and discrete

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of HR systems/SAP/Success Factors
  • Experience in at least one area of ER, L&D, Systems/Data, Comms

 

 

Your Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours 

 

  • The ability to think big, but also not to be afraid to ‘roll up your sleeves’
  • Good knowledge across Human Resources disciplines and their application
  • Wants to get involved and find solutions
  • Self-aware with good EQ and resilience
  • Commercial awareness – able to see the business implications
  • Able to form strong relationships and take people with them
  • High levels of integrity and personal discipline

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Graduate plus 1-5 years’ professional experience
  • CIPD Membership desirable but not essential
