Position Description
The Arborview Manager holds primary responsibility for service excellence in Arborview. The Manager develops, implements, and coordinates an interdisciplinary, holistic and state of the art program through which residents of Arborview experience security, serenity, inspiration, and a dynamic sense of engagement with life. The Manager provides the leadership required to support the Arborview staff in delivery of a full range of services, rendered in a manner transcending of traditional departmental lines for the sake of extending to residents a more holistic embrace than traditional organizational models permit. Other primary responsibilities of the Manager include: selection, orientation, and management of all personnel working in Arborview; provision of ongoing education for staff and family members, constructive and effective communication with family members, and oversee the delivery of a comprehensive program that each residents needs are met.

Job Relationships
- Reports to the Health Care Administrator.
- In-direct Supervision received from the Director of Nursing.
- Direct Supervision to all Arborview staff.
- Works closely with Department Directors.
- Interacts with residents, family members, visitors, staff in all departments, volunteers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Select, train, supervise, and provide leadership to all staff assigned to work in Arborview.
- Development with support from Continuing Care Arts individualized holistic plans of care for each resident, to be reviewed and revised quarterly or as deemed necessary based on changes in the residents physical, mental, or emotional condition.
- Develop and promote a way of living for all residents that assures ongoing high-touch engagement with service providers, appropriate levels of activity and stimulation, and high levels of security, life-satisfaction, and happiness.
- Promote the Resident-Centered Life model of service delivery, assuring adequacy of cross-training of staff, and seamless delivery of services on a fully interdepartmental (or non-departmental) basis.
- Communicate as necessary with other Department Directors to achieve facility-wide understanding of Arborview and its mission to residents and families; and to access departmental resources when necessary to advance the work of Arborview.
- Serve as the primary staff liaison to all family members and responsible parties. Assist with problem resolution and communication of family concerns to all appropriate others. Initiate frequent communication with responsible family members to assure they remain informed about and connected to their loved ones condition, needs, schedule, and daily life experience.
- Participate in development of the annual budget for Arborview. Monitor program and other expenditures to assure compliance with the annual budget and accomplishment of overall facility financial goals.
- Work with the Chaplain in planning and implementing support groups to meet the emotional and/or spiritual needs of Arborview residents family members. Assist with development of support groups or other meaningful means of support for family caregivers of residents afflicted with dementia living elsewhere on campus.
- Assist with the marketing of Arborview and the interpretation of its programs, services, and way of living to family members or others who may be interested in placing or needing to place a loved one there. Work to assure that Arborview census goals and facility-wide census goals are met.
- Participate as necessary in the Level of Care assessment process and assist with the making and implementing of Arborview placement decisions.
- Assist with the planning of each residents day including the making of necessary appointments and transportation arrangements to assure the residents needs are properly served.
- Orient residents, staff, and family members to the unique culture, practices, and mission of Arborview.
- Assure continuing compliance with all rules and regulations applicable to specialized facilities serving residents with dementia, and other such licensure rules or regulations as may be applicable to any licensed Assisted Living facility.
- Participate in Nursing on Call
- Perform any and all tasks as may be assigned by a Chief Health and Wellness Officer
Typical Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 30 lbs. is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of the needs of residents with dementia and of their family members.
- Knowledge of applicable State and local rules and regulations.
- Ability to provide effective leadership and direction to others.
- Highest level communication skills and the ability to speak and write fluently and correctly in the English language.
- Ability to demonstrate consistently in all interactions with others the warmth, caring, outgoing friendliness, and energy that are the hallmarks of Arbor Acres corporate personality and culture.
- Strong organizational skills..
- Word processing skills using Microsoft Word.
- Ability to manage multiple and shifting demands, and capacity for multi-tasking.
- The ability to be flexible to adjust to changing conditions, circumstances, and demands.

Minimum Education
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in patient care.
- 1 year of experience in long-term care nursing.
- License to practice nursing as a RN in the state of North Carolina.
License and/or Certification Required
- Licensed to practice nursing as an RN in the state of North Carolina.
Minimum Experience
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a manager or supervisor.
- A minimum of 2 years experience working with senior adults with dementia.
- Education or experience in the fields of gerontology and/or dementia care.
