Wood is recruiting for a Structural Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join its Power Solutions business focusing on Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects. This opportunity is Hybrid, based in our Vancouver, BC office.

The Role
The Structural EIT will support the design of electrical substation and transmission structures, working alongside senior engineers and designers. This role provides exposure to a broad range of projects and professional development opportunities while contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of high-voltage power infrastructure.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities
- Design electrical substation structures for 12 kV to 500 kV, including switchgear and control buildings, switchyard and gantry structures, telecommunication structures, retaining walls, and transformer oil containment systems
- Design foundations for transmission towers, steel monopoles, and wood pole structures
- Support the development of proposals, study reports, engineering specifications, and contract documents
- Ensure personal and team output is completed on time, on budget, and meets or exceeds quality standards
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with internal and external stakeholders
- Manage multiple tasks independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Provide engineering technical support to the field during construction
- Travel to and visit client sites as required

Expected:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or higher, specializing in structural design
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) status or eligibility to register with the Engineers & Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
- 1–4 years of structural engineering experience on electrical substation projects, transmission & distribution, heavy industrial projects, or related design experience
- Proficiency in concrete, steel, and masonry design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro and SAP2000
- Working knowledge of structural drafting software such as AutoCAD
