Reports to: Chief Technology & Innovation Officer

Supervises: 2 (directly) 2 (indirectly)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

Operational Leadership & Execution

  • Direct day-to-day operations of data platforms, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Oversee database performance tuning, capacity planning, and system monitoring to meet SLAs and business needs.
  • Implement repeatable processes for ETL, data integration, and data quality checks to ensure reliability and consistency.

Systems Architecture & Platform Management

  • Design and maintain modern, cloud-based data architectures that support analytics, machine learning, and reporting at scale.
  • Lead efforts to integrate multiple data sources into a single, trusted, real-time view of organizational data.
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure system security, disaster recovery, and compliance requirements are met.

Data Governance & Compliance

  • Operationalize data governance frameworks to enforce policies, access controls, and regulatory compliance (NCUA, FFIEC, etc.).
  • Ensure all data pipelines maintain accuracy, completeness, and integrity throughout their lifecycle.
  • Regularly audit systems for compliance, proactively addressing risks before they escalate.
  • Process Improvement & Automation
  • Identify opportunities to automate data processes, reduce manual interventions, and improve efficiency.
  • Implement monitoring and alerting systems to detect data anomalies, failures, or performance degradation early.
  • Continuously refine workflows to reduce downtime, improve throughout, and support business agility.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of database administrators and BI analysts.
  • Set clear operational metrics and hold the team accountable for performance, quality, and incident resolution times.
  • Build cross-functional partnerships with technology and business units to ensure data systems meet enterprise needs. 

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data management, operations, and architecture with 5+ years in a technical leadership role. 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong hands-on expertise with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, Snowflake), ETL frameworks (Informatica, Alteryx, SSIS), and database technologies (SQL Server, Databricks).
  • Hands on expertise with SQL server, Power BI, Tableau, and related data analysis tools and services.
  • Proven experience implementing monitoring, logging, and automation systems to improve operational reliability.
  • Deep knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance in financial services.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and incident management skills.

 PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS:

  • Achieve 99.9%+ uptime for enterprise data systems and infrastructure.
  • Reduce data integration errors and improve data pipeline processing speeds.
  • Strengthened compliance posture with zero major data-related infractions or audit findings.
  • Deliver faster, more reliable access to data for decision-making and analytics.

The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items over 15 pounds.
