Summary
The Safety Trainer is responsible for developing, delivering, and maintaining safety and health training programs for new hires and current employees. This position will play a critical role in supporting the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) team by ensuring all training is conducted effectively, documented accurately, and compliant with OSHA regulations and company policies. When not actively training, the Safety Trainer will provide additional support to the EHS team in safety initiatives, compliance efforts, and continuous improvement projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop, schedule, and deliver engaging safety and health training sessions as assigned for employees at all levels.
- Maintain and update training materials to align with OSHA standards, ANSI guidelines, and company policies.
- Track, monitor, and maintain accurate training records for compliance purposes.
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify gaps and recommend program improvements.
- Support EHS staff with site inspections, audits, and safety initiatives when training is not being conducted.
- Assist in onboarding new employees by providing required safety orientation and program overviews.
- Ensure consistency in training delivery across all Custom Truck locations or departments.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding safety questions, procedures, and policies.
- Stay current with OSHA, ANSI, and industry regulations to ensure training programs remain compliant.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, engagement, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Be instrumental in the assistance of correcting unsafe conditions
- Promptness, dependability and good communication skills

Required Skills and Qualifications
- High School required
- Experience working with tools, overhead cranes etc.
- Strong Communication skills
- PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Teams
- Energetic, personable, team player
- Ability to travel to company sites, as needed, for training delivery.
- Experience with adult learning techniques and instructional design
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
- 3+ years in shop experience
- 2+ training experience
- 2+ in a safety role
Working Conditions
- This position requires standing and walking for the majority of the workday while delivering training or supporting safety initiatives.
- Primarily conducted in shop, yard, and field environments, with occasional office-based work.
- May require travel to other company locations to conduct training sessions.
- Occasional lifting of training materials and equipment (up to 25 lbs).
- Regular exposure to industrial, mechanical, and construction environments.
