Overview:Provide senior-level expertise in geology with a strong focus on permitting, geologic modeling, and resource evaluation. Experience with metals exploration is required and cement, aggregates, industrial minerals is preferred. Responsibilities include overseeing site characterization, resource and reserve estimation, regulatory compliance, and permitting strategies. The role involves technical leadership, client interaction, and mentoring of staff while delivering innovative, practical solutions across mining, construction materials, and environmental projects.
Responsibilities:Leadership and Direction
- Lead technical teams in geological and hydrogeological investigations, modeling, and permitting.
- Provide senior-level oversight of exploration, drilling, sampling, and field programs.
- Mentor and develop junior geologists and technical staff.
- Review and approve technical deliverables, including geologic models, resource estimates, and permit applications.
At the Operational and Company Level
- Support business development through client engagement, proposal preparation, and presentations.
- Serve as the firm’s subject matter expert on geology, hydrogeology, and resource development for cement, aggregates, industrial minerals and metals.
- Represent the company with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and community stakeholders.
Do the Work
- Lead geologic and hydrogeologic site investigations, including drilling oversight, logging, sampling, aquifer testing, and pumping tests.
- Develop 2D and 3D geologic and hydrogeologic models for resource/reserve estimation, mine planning, and permitting.
- Perform resource and reserve evaluations for aggregate, cement raw materials, and metal deposits.
- Direct the permitting process for mining, quarrying, and resource development projects, including preparation of technical documentation and liaison with regulators.
- Conduct hydrogeologic studies to assess groundwater supply, dewatering requirements, and potential impacts to surface and groundwater resources.
- Evaluate geotechnical and geological conditions affecting mine design, slope stability, and material extraction.
- Provide technical input to feasibility studies, due diligence reviews, and environmental impact assessments.
- Support cement and aggregate quality evaluations, including raw material characterization and testing.
- Apply advanced geostatistics, modeling software, and GIS to develop resource interpretations and mine plans.
- Stay current on regulatory changes, mining trends, and technological advancements relevant to cement, aggregates, and metals.
- Advanced technical expertise in geology, hydrogeology, and resource assessment.
- Proven ability to manage permitting processes and regulatory interactions.
- Strong client-facing skills and ability to grow accounts in cement, aggregates, and metals.
- Ability to integrate geologic, hydrogeologic, and geotechnical data into actionable recommendations.
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, particularly in technical reporting and regulatory documentation.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.

- Bachelor’s degree in geology, mining, environmental engineering, or related field preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more (5+) years of demonstrated experience in environmental consulting, engineering, or related disciplines.
- Professional Geologist license preferred, or progress toward completion.
- MSHA Part 46/48 preferred.
- Expertise in geologic modeling software (e.g., Leapfrog, RockWorks, MODFLOW, SURPAC, etc.).
- Proficiency with GIS and database management.
- Familiarity with mine planning and reserve estimation tools.
- Strong technical writing and reporting skills.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental investigations including various groundwater, soil, and soil vapor sampling methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience monitoring well drilling, logging, installation and sampling; developing boring logs and review/ interpretation of geological boring logs.
- A broad understanding of soil and concrete conditions and construction related issues as they relate to geotechnical engineering and construction material testing (CMT) services.
- Strong field orientation and provide problem solving skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, GIS, EVS, and/or database management software is a plus.
- HAZWOPER Certification and understanding of safety protocols preferred.
- Frequent travel required, 5-10 days per month on average, may vary with project.
- Must hold a valid state driver’s license and successfully pass a motor vehicle check.
- Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
- Partially indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.

Salary and eligible variable compensation (if any) commensurate with experience. Range $90,000 - $115,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
