DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

 

Definition

 

Under general supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the incumbent is responsible in advancing St. Coletta's mission through the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors. This position manages a portfolio that includes major gifts, annual giving, grants, and corporate partnerships, ensuring sustainable funding to support our programs and growth. The ideal candidate is a strategic relationship-builder, an effective communicator, and a passionate advocate in fundraising or in a sales/account management role, building relationships, growing revenue, and managing portfolios, this position offers the opportunity to apply your skills to create meaningful social impact for the SCGW mission.

In accordance with the federal wage-hour laws, this is a salaried position and is not subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act’s (FLSA) minimum wage and overtime pay requirements.

Successful performance on the job requires following safety guidelines and policies to reduce accident or injury to self or students, school dress standards, proper attendance and leave policies, and compliance with other policies set forth in the Employee Handbook.  Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving is also important to the success of the incumbent.

 

Examples of Essential Functions

 

  • Drive Fundraising Success — Lead strategies for major gifts, online giving, and annual fund campaigns. Implement the annual fundraising plan by building strong donor pipelines. Identify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
  • Secure Grants & Sponsorships — Research, write, and manage a portfolio of grants; cultivate and grow corporate partnerships; track deadlines, deliverables, and outcomes.
  • Engage & Steward Donors/Client’s — Strengthen relationships with donors and partners through personal outreach, tailored communications, and engagement opportunities. Ensure long-term loyalty and satisfaction similar to key account management.
  • Lead Events with Impact — Represent SCGW at events and in the community, ensuring meaningful experiences that build awareness and drive fundraising results.
  • Manage Development Operations — Partner with Development Database Administrator to maintain donor portfolios and donor records; track campaign performance; prepare reports for leadership and the Board; analyze fundraising metrics to inform strategy.
  • Collaborate Across Teams — Partner with marketing and communications to create compelling donor- and partner-facing materials, appeals, proposals, reports, and recognition opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

·         Knowledge of fundraising.

  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment
  •  Proven success in portfolio growth, revenue generation, client management, or donor development.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong project and event management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with CRM/database systems a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders with professionalism and empathy.
  •  Passion for SCGW's mission and commitment to inclusivity and community impact.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Tuberculosis screening to assure no significant risk to the health and safety of others.
  • Successfully passing a criminal background investigation and pre-employment and random drug screenings

 

 

Sensory Requirements

 

Most tasks require visual perception and discrimination. Some tasks require oral communication ability. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds.

 

Minimum Acceptable Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive fundraising, business development sales/account management experience.

 

Hours of Work       8:30 AM – 5:00 PM     Monday through Friday
