The Role
In support of Cameco’s exploration projects, you will assist in the execution of exploration drill programs in search for the next world-class uranium deposit. A significant amount of your time will be spent working in field environment with your activities directed by a project geologist or their designate, working on a rotational schedule.
In this role, you will:
- Ensure relevant geological data and observations are accurately collected, using specialized software and tools
- Be responsible for drill core logging and sampling, probing drill holes with geophysical tools, creating and maintaining interpretive cross sections, handling drill core boxes, flagging the position of drill trails and drill holes, and other duties associated with drill programs as assigned
- Collaborate with the project team to produce high quality geological interpretations and share oversight of exploration field operations, including supervision of contractors and geological team members
- Perform office-related activities such as data compilation and interpretation, as well as assisting the project geologist with reporting requirements.
This is a 1-year temporary staff position.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in geology
- You must be eligible for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS)
- Ability to work in remote locations for extended periods of time
- Digital literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Recommended:
- First Aid, ATV and/or snowmobile training
- GIS and 3D geological modelling experience
- Previous mineral exploration, drill core logging and/or uranium industry experience
