POSITION SUMMARY
The Safety, Infection Control, and Security Officer will be responsible for development and compliance of the organization’s safety and infection control programs.
GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Healthcare Administration required.
• At least three years of safety experience required.
• Advanced training or certification in safety and infection control preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Extensive knowledge of emergency preparedness and infection control.
• Extensive knowledge of all organization infection control and safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct training.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
• Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs.
• Reviews current safety and infection control training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
• Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
• Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
• Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
• Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
• Prepares and implements departmental budget.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
• Monitors radiation safety program for all x-ray, or other imaging devices. May act as radiation Safety Officer.
• Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and contain outbreak.
• Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed.
• Reviews, analyzes, and implements infection control regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies (i.e., OSHA, etc.) and professional organizations.
• Reports infection surveillance, prevention, and control to local, state and federal public health authorities in accordance with law and regulation.
• Provides assistance throughout the facility to ensure infection control practices and concerns are addressed.
• Reviews and assesses all facility wide tracking and trending risks and ensures that corrective actions are taken.
• Credentialing Audits.
• • Establishes, manages, and enforces the Security Rule safeguards and any subsequent rules issued by OCR.
• • Integrates IT security and HIPAA compliance with the organization´s business strategies and requirements.
• • Responsible for addressing issues related to access controls, business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response.
• • Responsible for organizational security awareness, including staff training in collaboration with the HIPAA Privacy Officer.
• • Conducts risk assessments and audits – related to Business Associates Agreements and Third-Party Vendors
• • Investigates data breaches and implementing measures for their future prevention and/or containment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
