Position Overview:
The IT Support Specialist is a hands-on technical professional responsible for supporting DMA’s information technology infrastructure across the Mullins/Marion Area facilities. Reporting to the IT Manager, this role provides frontline support for hardware, software, and network systems while ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. The IT Support Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining connectivity, supporting DMA’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP platforms, and delivering user training and guidance. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills, adaptability, and a customer service mindset to support both day-to-day operations and long-term IT initiatives.
**Please note: This is an on-site position located in Tabor City, NC.**
Key Responsibilities:
1. Systems & Network Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain servers, desktops, laptops, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, scanners, and phones.
- Ensure LAN/WAN connectivity, Internet access, and system functionality across the organization.
- Monitor systems daily and respond promptly to usability or security concerns.
- Perform network address assignments, configure routing protocols, and manage authentication/directory services.
- Conduct root cause analysis to isolate and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain drivers, settings, and network facilities for PCs, printers, and related devices.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on IT equipment and infrastructure.
2. Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Administer firewalls, malware protection software, and patch deployment.
- Ensure companywide data backup systems are functioning and secure.
- Document and report violations of DMA’s technology use policies.
- Support the integrity of systems through security protocols and controls.
3. User Support & Training
- Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and application issues.
- Respond to and resolve help desk tickets in a timely and professional manner.
- Train users on systems, applications, and equipment use.
- Present technical information clearly to non-technical users.
4. Technology Support & Project Assistance
- Support DMA’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ERP platforms.
- Assist with IT project execution as assigned by leadership.
- Recommend system upgrades, process improvements, and technology solutions.
- Collaborate with IT leadership on implementing new technologies and improvements.
5. Documentation & Asset Management
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all technology assets by department and user.
- Document processes, incidents, maintenance logs, and compliance activities.
- Support audits and IT reporting requirements.
6. Additional Duties
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports directly to the IT Manager.
- This role has no direct reports.
Requirements
Key Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional IT experience, including systems, networking, and hardware/software support.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Information Technology required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional) strongly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access). Strong knowledge of network protocols, system security, and data integrity controls.
- Communication & Problem-Solving: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. Strong analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.
- Professional Skills: Self-starter with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure. Patient, adaptable, and detail-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work at various heights (ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms) safely and confidently.
- Physical Requirements: The IT Support Specialist role is primarily office- and facility-based with regular hands-on technical work.
- Mobility: Ability to move within office, warehouse, and equipment areas.
- Lifting: Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds (e.g., equipment, supplies).
- Vision & Hearing: Adequate for technology troubleshooting, report review, and verbal communication.
- Work Environment: Combination of office, warehouse, and technology lab settings; moderate noise levels may be present.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires up to 10-15% travel between DMA facilities.
