TDCSU is currently seeking a skilled and disciplined Assistant Vice President level underwriting candidate to join our underwriting team. This role is responsible for evaluating, analyzing, and underwriting risks associated with various classes within the medical facilities segment including surgery centers, home health care, behavioral health centers, telemedicine and other healthcare organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Working under the general supervision of the segment lead and senior management, acting within authority appropriate to this position, the underwriter is expected to:
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with our distribution partners,
- Review, evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business for medical facilities accounts in accordance with company guidelines and risk appetite,
- Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions which align with company objectives and profitability expectations,
- Work collaboratively with actuarial, claims, business development and legal teams to assess risk exposures and develop appropriate coverage solutions,
- Document underwriting decisions, maintain file integrity, and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Preferred candidates should possess a strong interest in the healthcare industry and related social, regulatory, economic and legal trends impacting it.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience
- Seven (7) or more years healthcare/medical professional liability underwriting.
- Strong analytical acumen with the ability to assess the various risk classes that sit within the medical facilities segment.
- Knowledge of medical malpractice, general liability and related healthcare coverage.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain broker relationships.
- High level discipline, judgment and ability to balance underwriting guidelines with flexibility to craft solutions.
- Proficiency in underwriting systems, Microsoft Office Suite and related tools.
