The CNC Engineer reports to the Manufacturing Manager and is responsible for providing tool path logic and CNC programming for various CNC machine tools. Creates machining processes required to produce components and instruments as required by manufacturing. Maintains required documentation system (SOP’s, Work Instructions, etc.). Develops tooling requirements
Responsibilities:
- Translates CAD file or hard copy drawing into tool path requirements and CNC programs to drive machining equipment
- Troubleshoot equipment and fabrication issues
- Implementation of best practices (PM’s, standardized tooling, programming, material flow, etc.)
- Develops tooling/machining solutions based on tooling knowledge, CNC capabilities, and industry knowledge
- Ability to program manually and/or with CAM software
- Ability to perform and train in CNC set-up’s and programming
- Troubleshoot machining problems with manufacturing engineers and operators to provide corrective action as required
- May direct and supervise other engineering or machine shop personnel
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 5 years CNC programming experience with emphasis on machining and troubleshooting
- Minimum 2 year College (or equivalent) education with emphasis in CNC programming
- 1 to 2 years CAD experience in a manufacturing environment
- Computer literate and experience with Solid Works software
- Strong root cause / corrective action analysis capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on working in a team environment
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Basic supervisory skills
- Knowledge of various 3+ axis mill and lathe machines
- Ability to lift 20 lbs
- Requires periods of sedentary work as well as time spent in the manufacturing environment
- Requires repetitive upper body movement – keyboard and monitor use
