Position Duties
The Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) Case Registry program will lead and coordinate efforts in the following areas:
Program Leadership & Coordination
- Direct daily operations of the SUID Case Registry program.
- Plan, organize, and assess implementation strategies and program activities.
- Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure program alignment and integration.
- Oversee program logistics, deliverables, timelines, and grant compliance.
Data & Reporting
- Ensure high-quality data collection, analysis, and interpretation related to SUID investigations. Includes attending and participating in monthly child fatality review meetings.
- Submit timely and accurate reports, including annual injury indicators and special emphasis reports, to the CDC and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and disseminate data reports, fact sheets, newsletters, and educational materials.
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Design and implement both process and outcome evaluation plans.
- Use findings to improve program practices and inform strategic direction.
- Monitor progress toward grant objectives and identify opportunities for innovation.
Community Engagement & Training
- Collaborate with local Child Fatality Review Teams (e.g., in DeKalb and Fulton Counties).
- Plan and deliver community-based SUID prevention strategies using a Community-Based Participatory Approach (CBPA).
- Coordinate and provide SUID-related training for healthcare providers, community groups, and other stakeholders.
- Leverage and grow multi-sector partnerships, particularly those addressing shared risk and protective factors.
Program Sustainability
- Foster new and existing partnerships to sustain prevention efforts.
- Represent the program at local and state-level meetings.
- Work closely with injury prevention networks and coalitions to expand reach and impact.
Additional Expectations:
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge in injury prevention and infant mortality reduction strategies.
- Respond to inquiries promptly and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance program effectiveness and subject-matter expertise.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring that SUID prevention efforts in Fulton and DeKalb Counties are data-informed, community-centered, and aligned with state and national priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Prgm Consultant 1 (GSP090)
or
Any other combination of education and professional experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in conducting training or presentations to community audiences.
- Experience within corporating data into action able programs and activities.
- Experience in program planning, program evaluation, performance monitoring, budget management, financial reporting, and personnel management.
- Evidence of good interpersonal and management skills.
- Experience in public health communication.
- Experience working with diverse partners.
- Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation of scientific papers at conferences and publications in peer-reviewed journals, is preferred but not required.
