We have an excellent career opportunity for an Engineer at our prestigious federal office buildings located in NE Washington DC 20002. Convenient access by Metro Red Line, NoMa/Gallaudet University. This position is covered by the CBA with IUOE Local 99.
Compensation: $54.36 Hourly/Non-exempt
Schedule: 7am to 3:30pm, 8.50 hours per day with 30-minute unpaid meal break. Flexibility required during hours of operations from 5am to 6pm for overtime, emergencies and other projects.
ENGINEER QUALIFICATIONS:

ENGINEER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs and preventative maintenance of energy management, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Operate and maintain chillers, boilers, site building systems and associated equipment
- Provides monitoring of facility operating systems using available Building Automation Systems
- Respond to alarms, and make periodic tours, recording required data in operating logs and
- correcting system operations
- Maintain mechanical/electrical rooms and associated equipment in a clean/orderly condition
- Identifies areas of possible process failures before they happen, if failures do occur, initiates immediate corrective action and long-term solutions
- Performs inspections of all systems
- Respond to service calls and take corrective action
- Cross-trained to operate and maintain one or more systems, which provide the facility’s heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high-temperature water and electricity
- Responds to alarms and make periodic tours, recording required data in operation logs
- Respond to service calls and take corrective action(s)
- Perform other related duties as requested.
ENGINEER REQUIREMENTS
- Valid Unexpired DC 3rd Class Engineers License
- 5 + years of experience operating in a federal facility with similar characteristics and job functions.
- Obtain and maintain GSA HSPD-12 and Tier 2 DOJ background. This may take several months to complete before working on the federal site.
- Pre-employment and on-going drug screening
- Must have technical knowledge of Building Automation System, Centrifugal Chillers, Air Cooled Chillers, Fire and Water Tube Boilers, Air Handling Units, Variable Air Volume, Fan Coil Unit, and Chemical Treatment.
- Must be familiar with emergency systems including redundancy, isolation, change over, and shut down of all utilities, and mission critical systems.
- EPA Certificate
ENGINEER COMPETENCIES
- Knowledge of pneumatic/DDC control system application and calibration, and operational requirements of HVAC systems
- Ability to prioritize service requests and repairs
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and propose repairs/replacements
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal to direct maintenance staff
- Working understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational skills
