About the Department
Brunswick County is currently accepting applications for a Volunteer & Non-Profit Coordinator to join our Emergency Management team. At Brunswick County we’re committed to providing highly responsive, effective, and efficient emergency management and planning services for citizens and visitors across Brunswick County and surrounding areas.
Under the direction of the Director of Emergency Services, the Volunteer & Non-Profit Coordinator performs technical assistance work coordinating the daily operations and activities of the county volunteer organizations active in disasters, and non-governmental organizations that assist in disasters. Work involves planning, developing, implementing, and managing countywide program activities to coordinate assistance for emergency and disaster response through a network of community, faith-based and volunteer organizations, non-profit organizations and local governments. This position trains, leads, plans, assigns, prioritizes, and supervises the work of others. Works under limited supervision with government agencies and community partners, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Volunteer & Non-Profit Coordinator shall work closely with primary stakeholders and act as a liaison to County Emergency Management. They will also work to develop and execute a project to establish and maintain viable volunteer programs and non-governmental not for profit organization programs within Brunswick County.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree with five (5) years of experience in emergency services, social services, planning or program administration and some experience working with volunteers or community, faith-based, or voluntary agencies or organizations that are active in disasters, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Valid NC or SC Driver License required.
- Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite to include Word documents and Excel spreadsheets.
- National Incident Management System IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800.
- CPR Certification preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, typewriters, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for periods of time.
