The Role

The Avionics Technician is tasked with assembling, setting up and fixing electrical systems and instrumentation for aerospace drone flight testing. This position demands a blend of electrical expertise, precise attention to detail, and the capacity to collaborate effectively in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive EMC/EMI/Environmental test campaigns per MIL-STD-810H and RTCA DO-160G standards at ISO/IEC 17025 accredited third-party test facilities.

  • Design and develop custom test fixtures for drone components and assemblies for environmental chambers, vibration tables, and shock testing equipment. Ensure test fixtures meet safety requirements and provide accurate, repeatable test results.

  • Recommend improvements to testing processes and procedures.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.

  • Willingness to travel to third-party test facilities (up to 20%).

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency with environmental test equipment including thermal chambers, vibration systems, and shock tables.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Experience with CAD software for fixture design (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).

  • Knowledge of materials science and material selection for test fixtures.

  • Understanding of instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and test automation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with military/aerospace testing standards, such as MIL-STD-461/464, MIL-STD-810 and RTCA DO-160.

  • Experience with environmental test lab accreditation processes.

  • Project management experience.

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offers may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and training, critical skills, and business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are included in most offers and are considered part of Mach’s total compensation package.
