Description

The Digital Literacy Coordinator will lead the development, delivery, and systemwide coordination of digital literacy upskilling for Detroit job seekers, ensuring participants gain the foundational digital skills necessary for workplace success. This position supports digital literacy programming from pilot projects for all DESC job seekers. The coordinator will deliver training through a digital literacy assessment tool, proctor assessments, and provide individualized coaching. 

Requirements

Key Responsibilities


Digital Literacy Training & Support

  • Deliver digital literacy assessments and trainings across Detroit at Work career centers using digital literacy platforms and other platforms.
  • Facilitate group classes and one-on-one coaching, covering basic computer skills, online job applications, email, internet use, productivity software, and digital workplace tools.

Program Coordination & Expansion

  • Coordinate service delivery across Detroit at Work career centers and youth centers to ensure consistent programming.
  • Collaborate with Individual Detroit Organizations (IDOs) to design, schedule, and promote digital literacy workshops.
  • Support integration of digital literacy into Detroit at Work systems.
  • Assist in piloting and scaling targeted programming for priority populations, drawing lessons to expand systemwide delivery.

Employer & Education Engagement

  • Contribute to Detroit at Work by aligning digital literacy training with employer expectations and industry needs.

  

Tracking & Reporting

  • Maintain participant records, including eligibility, attendance and skills gains.
  • Collect and analyze qualitative and quantitative data; prepare reports on participant outcomes, assessment results, and program effectiveness.
  • Support evaluation and continuous improvement of the digital literacy initiative.

Training Material Development

  • Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet the needs of learners with varying proficiency levels.
  • Ensure training resources reflect adult learning principles, contextual learning, and workforce readiness.
  • Perform additional duties as needed. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, computer science, social work or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.

Experience:

  • Two to four years of experience in teaching, training, or workforce development, with a focus on serving underserved populations.
  • Experience with developing curriculum and administering digital assessments; contextualized learning strongly preferred.

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and related productivity software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to explain technical content in plain language.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to effectively oversee multiple sites and participant cohorts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Career Centers, Individual Detroit Organizations (IDOs), and training providers.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and workforce development systems.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid State of Michigan driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance; field work is required for this position.

This position is contingent on grant and program funding.
