THE POSITION
This key position plays an integral part in ensuring the successful organization and staging of FWWC27. The successful candidate will be expected to pick up the responsibilities of the role and deliver results from the outset, working in a collaborative and constructive way across all functional areas connected to the delivery of FWWC27.
- Providing legal support to FIFA27 in connection with the organization and staging of FWWC27 across a broad range of legal areas, working alongside the FIFA Legal team in Miami.
- Planning, setting up and implementing, in collaboration with the FIFA Legal team and FIFA Finance, the tax and corporate structure of FIFA27.
- Assisting with all corporate, company secretarial and governance matters in respect of FIFA27, including legal, regulatory and FIFA institutional requirements and best practices.
- Ensuring that the operation of FIFA27 and the staging and organization of FWWC27 complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including all federal, state and municipal laws and regulations.
- Delivering all necessary legal advice, strategic direction and support during the operational phase, tournament time and wind-down phase of the FWWC27.
- Advising on the implementation of the hosting documentation provided during the bidding process for FWWC27, including hosting agreements, host city agreements, stadium agreements, training site agreements, airport agreements, accommodation agreements and related contractual documentation;
- Supervising the implementation of the guarantees provided by Brazilian government during the bidding process for FWWC27 across topics such as taxation, immigration, employment and customs; and
- Supporting the Head of Legal and senior management in its discussions with the Brazilian government and CBF and on the establishment of a FWWC27 event law.
- Drafting and negotiating service provider agreements and any other contracts to be entered into by FIFA27 in connection with the organization and staging of FWWC27;
- Managing any contentious matters and disputes that may arise in connection with FWWC27;
- Advising FIFA and FIFA27 on employment and labour law matters, including drafting employment and human resources contracts, documentation and policies and dealing with employment and labour law disputes;
- Managing external counsel; and
- Supporting brand protection and anti-ambush marketing activities as part of the overall brand protection plan developed by FIFA.
- Coordinating and working closely with other legal divisions within FIFA in relation to the hosting and staging of FWWC27, including in relation to media rights, TV production, content, music, technology, intellectual property, brand protection, sponsorship, marketing, corporate and institutional matters.
YOUR PROFILE
- An experienced and skilled lawyer qualified in Brazil with at least 10+ years of experience either in a top firm, large corporate or sporting organization, with experience advising major multinational organizations on a wide range of legal issues.
- Experience with Administrative and Regulatory Law, Contractual and Civil Law consultancy, Compliance and Data Protection is desirable.
- Previous experience of legal experience in the sports industry is desirable, particularly experience with the hosting and staging of major sports events. Candidates with a demonstratable interest in the sports industry and a strong commercial legal background will also be considered.
- Experience recruiting and managing a team.
- Keen understanding of the various interests and demands of all key stakeholders of FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027™ and a thorough appreciation of how the actions of FIFA27 could affect those interests.
- Ability to create, develop and maintain strong and reliable relationships with FIFA Senior Management as well as external legal and commercial counterparts.
- Strong IT skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Capacity to advise the business when making key decisions through critical problem-solving skills and an ability to use sound judgement.
- Entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, effective negotiation skills, excellent communication skills and positive relationship-management skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Positive attitude, patience, and persistence.
- Experience working within a multicultural and or multinational organization.
- Qualified as an attorney in Brazil
- Right to work in Brazil.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written)
- Ability to re-locate to Rio de Janeiro.
