POSITION: Associate Director of Annual Giving
REPORTS TO: Senior Director of Advancement
STATUS: Full-time, Exempt
RANGE: $80,000 - $90,000
Founded in 1901, Brooklyn Law School is a distinguished, independent law school located in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. The Law School is searching for an Associate Director of Annual Giving to join our team. The Law School’s size, vibrant employee and student population, and commitment to training the next generation of lawyers and promoting social justice, will offer a candidate the opportunity to develop and diversify practical skills and participate firsthand in operating a successful educational institution.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement, the Associate Director of Annual giving will be a key member of the advancement team responsible for the execution of a robust annual giving program. With the Law School’s 125th Anniversary celebration scheduled for the fall of 2026 and launch of the Law School’s first ever comprehensive campaign, this is an exciting time to join the team in a highly valued and visible role.
Responsibilities include:
- Execute multi-channel Annual Giving appeals, execute mailings, email and other promotional material to increase donor participation and dollars raised.
- Under the direction of the Senior Director of Advancement, execute a comprehensive Annual Giving appeal plan, including calendar of activities/events, solicitation and segmentation methods, donor stewardship and recognition, volunteer engagement, budget, data analysis, and campaign evaluation/progress updates.
- Execute all “giving day” campaigns.
- Grow annul fund revenue to $1m+ consistently by the end of the campaign.
- In coordination with the Marketing and Communications team, develop and implement all annual giving creative, collateral, and branding for various digital and print channels and platforms.
- Develop and execute stewardship strategies for Annual Fund donors and volunteers to enhance the donor experience and promote a culture of philanthropy, including recognition events and multi-platform communications.
- Manage a portfolio of annual giving prospects; conduct 100 in-person donor meetings per year.
- Support the development and launch and manage a leadership annual giving society.
- Recruit and then manage volunteers to serve as class advocates
- Partner with Alumni Engagement on Reunion class giving efforts
- Serve as the Advancement team liaison to Student Organization’s fund raising efforts
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related annual giving/fund experience.
- Knowledge of higher education and fundraising strategies unique to the NYC market.
- Excellent oral, written communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
- Experience with Sales Force or similar CRM
- Ability to navigate large donor database systems and e-blast software
- Experience executing direct mail and email campaigns
- Volunteer management experience
- Experience personally soliciting annual fund gifts.
- Be our annual giving “expert” and be knowledgeable of best practices, primarily in education, throughout the industry and be on the cutting edge of new trends and technology that can optimize our annual giving program.

Preferred:
- An understanding and appreciation of the role of development in an educational institution is highly desirable
- The professional maturity to work successfully with skilled professionals in the legal, academic and corporate communities is essential.
- Experience in the education sector with annual giving and/or alumni engagement
- Professional or lived NYC experience
- Highly energetic professional with the ability to engage donors, work with volunteers and solicit gifts
Remote capabilities:
- This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule, requiring a minimum in-office presence of four (4) days per week during the academic year when classes are in session and during exam periods. During the summer and academic breaks, when classes are not in session and exams are not being administered, a minimum of three (3) days per week of in-office presence is required.
Travel:
- Some travel, nights and weekend work may be required.
