The Watts Internship Program is strategically designed to allow you the opportunity to utilize what you have learned in the classroom while gaining a true understanding of the business world by applying those key principles through hands-on experience. During the internship, students will gain exposure to and impact operations. There will be many chances to network with like-minded manufacturing and industrial engineering professionals and stimulate your mind through cross-departmental collaboration.

Watts is looking for ambitious students or recent grads who want a jump start on their career development. As a Financial Shared Services intern, you will have many opportunities to add value to our growing business and accounting function. You will gain exposure and practical experience working on Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, while learning more about a career in Finance and creating career networking opportunities.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Tasks of general accounting: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or any combination of these areas
  • Investigates and resolves problems associated with processing of invoices and purchase orders. Performs timely follow-up on accounts payable communications and issues requiring special or urgent attention
  • Reconcile vendor & customer account statements
  • Reconcile aged open purchase order receipts to invoices and determine if write off is needed
  • Support and coordinate the activities of an AR portfolio.  Perform timely follow-up on accounts receivable discrepancies and past due invoices
  • Participate in month-end financial closings, audit preparation, and other special projects as requested by Finance Shared Services management

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong work ethic and go-getter. Strives to deliver good work product
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Goal focused
  • Good communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Autonomous but can be directed to execute on tasks timely and successfully

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current student actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business

Working Conditions:

While performing the job duties, you will be working in an office environment. You will be required to work in the office at the Federal St, Andover, MA location three days per week (Monday – Wednesday) and can work remotely two days per week (Thursday and Friday) once fully trained.

Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Ability to remain seated/standing at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks like typing on a keyboard or using a mouse for extended periods.
  • Ability to read documents and communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with management, coworkers, and third parties.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, and copiers.
  • Ability to physically move around the office and occasionally lift and carry light objects, such as office supplies, documents, or small equipment.
