We’re looking for an Machine Preparation Centre Engineer to join our team in Immingham. In this role, you’ll make sure machines are prepared, inspected and ready to go, all to the highest standards of safety and quality. If you’re hands-on, detail-focused and enjoy working as part of a team, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll be doing:
Carrying out pre-delivery inspections and machine preparation, including fitting attachments such as buckets, vandal guards, q-fits, radios, reverse cameras and other extras.
Making sure all checks are completed as detailed on the PDI and extras sheet.
Highlighting any additional work required and keeping your Supervisor updated.
Installing software updates as they’re released.
Accurately completing paperwork and real-time PDA inputs to record your work.
Looking after your work area and maintaining a professional appearance at all times.
Keeping company tooling in good condition and reporting any defects.
Using your own toolkit to complete jobs effectively.
Following all Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
Supporting colleagues and mentoring trainees where required.
Attending product and systems training (sometimes staying away from home) to keep your skills up to date.
Occasionally working overtime when needed.
Helping ensure SMT GB standards around safety, quality and environmental care are always met.
What we’re looking for
A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural or HGV mechanics (e.g. NVQ2/C&G).
Experience in the preparation and repair of heavy construction plant, including hydraulics and electrics.
A team player with good communication skills, who is responsible, reliable and organised.
Problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Confidence in safely handling and driving heavy machinery.
Basic IT skills (email, systems, technical literature).
High standards, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset.
A full UK driving licence is desirable, and welding ability would be a bonus.
