Occupational Summary:
The Security Officer is responsible for monitoring and responding to the need for security services for all areas within the boundaries of the Wichita campus. This includes maintaining the safety and security of all students, faculty, and staff on campus and the Provincial House personnel. This position requires complete confidentiality of all Security and University-related business. Evening hours are required for this second-shift role, and weekend availability may be needed for special events.

Work Performed:
- Uphold operational procedures in all areas of security and perform duties as an evening security officer independently with little or no supervision; additional shifts as scheduled.
- Respond to calls for service and provide frontline emergency management and/or support.
- Observe and report security breaches, safety hazards, and emergency situations.
- Effectively coordinate with security staff in patrolling the total campus, investigating crime, notification of local crime activities, and vehicle owner identification.
- Confer with the Director of Security to formulate policies, determine need for programs, and coordinate programs related to safety.
- Communicate with University and ASC management personnel concerning security concerns as directed by the Director of Security
- Conduct seminars, lectures, campus messages, training and in-service sessions on various aspects of safety with students, faculty, staff and ASC personnel as requested.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must have documentation of completion of active or prior commission through a recognized law enforcement training agency.
- Must have no history of felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving violence or sex offense.
- Must possess current licensure and/or certifications as required by the profession including firearms qualifications.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the University’s policy at all times.
- Must have physical fitness and stamina: stand, walk, and/or run for extensive periods of time. Must be able to talk or hear.
- Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, managers, students’ parents, or the general public.
- Must be able to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet software preferred.
- College degree preferred.
