Overview of the role
The Restaurant General Manager s is responsible for managing all the hotel's Food & Beverage outlets from the arrival experience to the completion of the guest experience to ensure positive guest retention. The RGM leads a team of culinary, service, and support staff, fostering a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and accountability.
What you have
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field – Preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in a full-service restaurant or hotel food & beverage operation.
- Proven track record in achieving financial goals, managing budgets, and controlling costs.
- Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, service standards, and culinary trends.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and team-building abilities.
- Outstanding customer service and guest relations skills.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Proficiency with POS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and inventory management software.
- Knowledge of wine and spirits is a plus
- Micros and Open Table knowledge preferred
What you’ll do
Operational Management
- Oversee daily operations to ensure high service standards and exceptional guest experiences.
- Create and manage F&B team schedules based on forecasts and budgets; submit as required.
- Review staffing levels to balance guest service and financial goals.
- Ensure accurate payroll and maintain consistent attendance.
- Participate in required meetings and conduct daily shift briefings.
- Manage purchase orders, invoices, and checkbook accounting.
- Control costs through inventory checks and portion control.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu planning.
Guest Relations
- Foster a positive environment for guests and team members.
- Address guest requests, issues, and complaints promptly and courteously.
- Support staff during peak times and gather guest feedback for improvements.
- Ensure guest privacy and security by following hotel procedures.
Team Management
- Train, motivate, and discipline F&B team members according to standards.
- Promote open communication and a professional work environment.
- Ensure fair treatment and prioritize team member retention.
- Conduct performance reviews and annual evaluations.
Compliance and Safety
- Uphold core values and maintain high personal appearance standards.
- Comply with safety standards, OSHA guidelines, and F&B policies.
- Ensure team awareness of laws regarding alcoholic beverages.
- Respond to emergencies using Safety Data Sheets and manage “Lost and Found” procedures.
