Position Summary:

The Business Systems Manager will be a highly technical, hands-on leader taking full ownership of the organization's core IT systems, including critical applications in a manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities involve managing internal systems and external vendor relationship (MSP), software management, and ensuring maximum system uptime, reliability, troubleshooting complex technical issues, while managing daily operations across the site. 


This role demands a self-starter who will lead implementation projects, provide expert-level technical support, continually seek process efficiencies to optimize resource utilization all while rigorously maintaining compliance with required security and industry standards such as Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Essential Functions:

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain the organization's core IT infrastructure, including physical and virtual servers (Windows), User/Group Administration, Group Policies, Print Services, Active Directory, and virtualized environments. 
  • Oversee device lifecycle management, including regular security patching and updates for all endpoints and network components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs, ensuring secure and high-speed connectivity. Research and troubleshoot event log warnings and errors.
  • Rigorously maintain compliance with required security and industry standards, specifically ensuring all IT systems and procedures meet or exceed the requirements for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level II necessary for aerospace and defense contracting.
  • Secure all infrastructure, ensuring high performance and availability, including the configuration and maintenance of server architecture, network segmentation (LAN/WAN), security devices (firewalls), and cloud services. 
  • Serve as the first line of defense to ensure maximum system uptime and reliability for all critical systems, including key software and ERP (Globalshop) through proactive monitoring and performance tuning.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly test comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including robust data backup and restoration procedures.
  • Serve as the primary liaison and manager for all third-party IT service contracts, ensuring vendor performance (e.g., MSP, communications) meets stringent service level agreements (SLAs) and organizational standards. 
  • Own the development of the organization's overall IT strategy, while partnering with vendors, to ensure technological capabilities align with long-term business objectives and continued advancement in the technological world. 
  • Lead technical initiatives and implementation projects, taking ownership and responsibility for project delivery, scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Serve as the primary guardian of organizational assets by implementing and managing advanced security protocols, anti-malware solutions, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Provide high-level, expert-level technical support and resolution for escalated issues, acting as the final point of contact for complex infrastructure problems.
  • Provide training and technical mentorship to colleagues, creating clear documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance user proficiency and drive the successful adoption of new technologies.
  • Manage and coordinate all required internal and external IT audits, particularly those related to CMMC compliance.
  • Keeping up to date on the latest IT trends, policies, regulations, and best practices for timely implementation. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Experience, Education and Qualifications:   

  • High School Diploma Required. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field preferred.
  • Eight (8) or more years of experience in Information Technology 
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining security controls required by CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or similar government/defense industry cybersecurity standards.
  • Proven, in-depth experience in a similar role within an Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing floor IT needs is required.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft Exchange/O365.
  • Experience with advanced data backup and recovery solutions. 
  • Proficiency in designing and executing enterprise backup and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Familiarity with security monitoring tools and techniques for continuous system performance analysis.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, Security+, CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft, or ITIL.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies.
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking principles, TCP/IP, VPNs, and firewall management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, presentation skills and high attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, agility, adaptability, and ability to multi-task.
