POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Tumbling and Performing Arts is responsible for youth at Two Rivers YMCA Moline-East Moline Branch; through providing quality programming for members and guests, safe and clean facilities, member/program sales, retention, and satisfaction, while exemplifying the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Ensures programs and services meet community needs including supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  2. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success.
  3. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within the area of responsibility.
  4. Developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs; securing and scheduling the needed facilities; and creating and scheduling the classes, activities, or events.
  5. Ensures members' and community program participants' safety and well-being at all times, by meeting their education, developmental, protective, and nurturing needs.
  6. Implement our mission by knowing and understanding our mission statement, Cause Driven Y, Values, and Diversity, Inclusion, & Global Engagement [DIG] initiative.
  7. Respond, assist, and follow up with incidents, customer complaints, medical emergencies, and following proper documentation procedures. 
  8. Resolve conflicts and disciplinary concerns with members and guests.  
  9. A neat and clean personal appearance is kept at all times.  Name tags and proper uniforms are worn during all shifts.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for supervising youth programming and being a primary responder in the event of an emergency. Overseeing the Kid’s Adventure Center and Youth and Family Programming (Tumbling, Dance, Cheer, Arts and Crafts, Homeschool PE, etc). Responsible for the hiring, onboarding, training, reviewing, rewarding, disciplining, and supervision of community program staff. Responsible for supervising members, guests, and activities in the Two Rivers YMCA.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Two years of related experience is preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.?
  • Within 3 months of hire, completion of  CPR, First Aid, AED for infant, child, and adult, Bloodborne Pathogens, Illinois Harassment training, and other training as assigned.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Car Insurance.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.

  • The employee frequently is required to walk, stand, sit, and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment. 
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to supervise program activities.
