JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the Credit Department, evaluating the credit worthiness of businesses/individuals, and expanding procedures, processes, resources, and functions managed under the Credit Department. Manage, train, and mentor staff to ensure successful execution of department initiatives.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate complex financial statements, personal and business tax returns, personal financial statements, borrower prepared projections, management performance, market or industry risk, capital structure, and collateral.
  • Utilize and build out LoanVantage underwriting software to analyze credit worthiness.
  • Underwrite and prepare complex Commercial Loan Presentations.
  • Attend Officers Loan Committee (OLC) and “Golden Ticket” or similar meetings to provide an explanation of the financial analysis and recording minutes for Board of Director’s as needed.
  • Authorized to act as a voting member of OLC in the absence of the Credit Risk Officer.
  • Administer and lead weekly department meeting and monthly credit forums with the Chief Lending and Chief Risk Officers.
  • Attend and provide training at monthly Kaizen Meetings in an effort to improve commercial loan processes.
  • Occasionally meet with Lenders and Clients to better understand the details of new loan requests and financial implications.
  • Proof and provide documentation and resources for external loan review, examiners, and auditors.
  • Oversee and manage the Commercial Loan Workflow Process.
  • Prepare training / train others on commercial loan underwriting and the commercial loan work flow process.
  • Train, mentor, and coach all individuals under supervision through monthly one-on-ones and daily interaction.
  • Responsible for staff development and performance management of individuals under supervision.
  • Manage and prepare Annual File Reviews (AFR’s) presentations, procedures, and processes.
  • Approve limited level Annual File Reviews.
  • Oversee and manage portfolio concentrations and management reports (i.e. tax exempt, hotel/motel, cannabis related business, LEOCs, UCC filings, life insurance policies etc.).
  • Manage the new Commercial Loan Pipeline.
  • Manage the covenant tracking process for all commercial loans.
  • Manage the risk rating procedure and processes for the department and Bank.
  • Prepare and update procedure manuals as needed.
  • Manage and build out Credit Administration resources pages on jbtConnect.
  • Service account relationships as may be assigned by supervisors.
  • Proofread written documentation (meeting minutes, loan presentations, correspondence, etc.) to ensure clarity and compliance with generally accepted grammar and spelling standards.
  • Routinely incorporate compliance (knowledge of applicable laws/regulations) and generally accepted lending practices in day-to-day tasks.
  • Promote and preserve JBT’s values and culture.
  • Follow Bank policy and procedure to prevent fraud and financial crimes.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

SKILLS

  • Minimum of 5 years of credit analyst experience or 7 years of experience in a financial underwriting or equivalent position in related industry.
  • Formal credit analysis training.
  • Experience analyzing financial statement for credit decisions.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills.
  • Proficient mathematics skills and detailed accounting skills/training.
  • Detailed financial analysis skills for proprietor, partnership, and corporate businesses.
  • Ability to develop industry specific knowledge to assist underwriting and loan decisioning.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform meaningful research beyond the information provided by loan applicants.
  • Must possess a strong sense of curiosity and the drive to completely understand all aspects of credit requests and financial analysis, as well as, all of the numbers behind each loan request or relationship.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate the following office equipment: adding machine, telephone, multifunction device, personal computer including the MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) applications as well as other web-based tools (i.e. – LoanVantage, RingCentral, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of keyboard proficiency.
  • Ability to successfully handle confidential materials.
  • Work well independently.
  • Ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 pounds.
  • Ability to multitask.
