Position Summary:
The Syndications Vice President will play a vital role in an energetic CREA department working in the multi-family affordable housing industry. The Vice President will be assigned to multiple investor client accounts to serve as the primary relationship manager for those accounts and all related activities, including deepening investor relationships, developing investor pipelines, and coordinating upper-tier investor closings. These responsibilities are further outlined below.
Primary Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities for this position are the development and growth of the assigned investor relationships through the management of all aspects of client management, which includes:
- Understand investment needs and objectives to create and manage the deal pipeline
- Lead client calls, arrange site visits and due diligence meetings, and work with Syndications staff to actively manage investor-specific needs
- Travel to conferences, site visits, annual meetings, and other investor-focused events to enhance relationships
- Work with the Originations team to source new deals for placement with the assigned investor.
- Negotiate, in coordination with the Managing Director or Executive Vice President, financial terms into an equity letter of intent and/or upper-tier fund agreement
- Represent investor and on behalf of Syndications within CREA’s Investment Committees by reviewing committee packages for appropriate adherence to underwriting guidelines and disclosure and mitigation of investment risks, and in preparation for client review
- Work with other CREA Departments, including Acquisitions and Legal, to incorporate investor-specific terms into closing documents
- Facilitate and aid in the investor review of all necessary diligence for deal and/or fund closing
- Coordinate closings at upper-tier partnership level with internal closing teams, investors, and attorneys
- Manage and develop Financial Analysts assigned to the Vice President’s accounts and in their roles and responsibilities, including
- Instruction, review, and approval of work performed by Financial Analysts on assigned Investor relationships, and
- Career Development through CREA’s quarterly and annual review process
- Organize and coordinate the third-party review process for properties in multi-investor funds and other investor outlets as needed (if applicable)
- Assist other team members in their responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or EVP
Requirements
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional-level LIHTC syndication experience and/or LIHTC transactional closing experience. A bachelor’s degree in real estate, finance, economics, or a related business major from an accredited college or university. Up to 25% of the time is required for travel. This position may require extended hours during certain times of the year to support critical deadlines and organizational priorities. The candidate must be highly motivated, proactive, and possess superb communication, time management skills, and attention to detail. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite is required, with a strong emphasis on Excel and Word. Individuals must possess and demonstrate effectiveness in each of the Core Competencies.
