Duties and Responsibilities

(* Essential Functions)


  1. * Under general supervision, responsible for delivering high-quality training and support to K-12 educators, helping them integrate industry-relevant technologies and hands-on learning into their classrooms, utilizing the Manufacturing and Engineering Education Reimagined for All (MEERA) teacher professional development program. This role requires a strong commitment to workforce development, as well as the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and educators across the region. 
  2. * Work closely with educators to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver cutting-edge curriculum that aligns with industry standards and support classroom implementation. 
  3. Coordinate summer training and ongoing professional development throughout the year.
  4. * Provide instructional support to educators, ensuring the effective implementation of MEERA curriculum and industry technologies in the classroom.
  5. Offer technical assistance and training on equipment used within the MEERA program, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and ensuring proper setup in classrooms.
  6. * Serve as the primary contact for any equipment issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
  7. Foster a collaborative environment among educators by sharing best practices and strategies for teaching manufacturing and engineering concepts.
  8. Support educators in creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers in advanced manufacturing.
  9. Regularly assess the effectiveness of curriculum delivery and training through feedback from teachers and observations in the classroom.
  10. * Collaborate with the MEERA team to make recommendations for continuous improvement of the program.
  11. Organize and coordinate regional competitions and events to engage students in real-world manufacturing challenges and skill-building activities.
  12. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local school districts, industry partners, and community stakeholders to promote and expand the MEERA program.
  13. * Represent the MEERA program at meetings, conferences, and other events to raise awareness and support for the initiative.
  14. Travel to the MEERA National Training and Technology Center (NTTC) in Danville, VA, for continued professional development and training as required.
  15. Travel statewide to schools and other locations as needed to provide on-site training, technical support, and program coordination.
  16. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  17. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing technology or related field and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing technical program coordination for manufacturing and engineering education initiatives, including teacher training and certification, laboratory operations and safety compliance; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. 
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of advanced manufacturing as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies. 
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with advanced manufacturing and industrial automation—covering laboratory safety and operations, applicable safety and environmental regulations, and the theories and systems of mechatronics (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation & control/PLCs, robotics, CNC/CAD-CAM, pneumatics/hydraulics, and industrial networking.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner. 
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials. 
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
  7.  Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, spreadsheets, and electronic mail.
  8. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of OSHA policies.
  9. Able to travel to various sites within the state in a timely manner.
  10. Able to work evenings and weekends, on- and off-campus as required.


Desirable Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability to program, operate, and maintain advanced manufacturing technologies and equipment (such as CNC machines, robotics, 3D printing, etc.). 
  2. Knowledge of 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  3. Strong ability to develop and deliver training materials, with experience in both in-person and virtual learning environments.
  4. Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
