Job Scope:
As the Director of Sales Development you are responsible for the North America Beiersdorf Luxury Division. There are currently two brands within this division: La Prairie and Chantecaille. This role oversees the sales development for all retail accounts; inclusive of independents, spas, e-retailers and provides ongoing support to the VP of Sales.

Main Accountabilities:

Retail Sales Planning (totals by country, account, door, and territory): 

  • Set total retail sales target by account and by door to establish seasonal targets for the field
  • Prepare Make the Season worksheets, set territory retail targets
  • Ensure business meeting presentations include retailer, executive, and any store/market presentations in addition to seasonal retailer meeting prep

 

Net Shipment Financial Planning:

  • Collaborate with VP Sales in Annual Budget Planning (ABP) process for both net and retail sales
  • Manage net shipment forecasting on a weekly and monthly basis to include receipt flow by order date
  • Oversee Open to Buy; negotiate with corporate buyers
  • Project order flow within stock and sales planning
  • Plan return budgets/corporate returns of discontinued SKUs/stock balances and damages
  • Track returns by account for monthly discussion with buyers; ensure all returns are booked out of the stores
  • Review SKU replenishment and communicate out of stock to retail partners
  • Provide analysis of weeks of supply by account; with emphasis on top 20 SKUs, top doors, and top collections
  • Monitor daily order tracking and approval for basic and launch orders
  • Determine priority shipping schedules
  • Evaluate new product launch sales performance vs shipments
  • Manage e-retailer inventory in conjunction with the e-retail/digital team to keep inventory at an adequate level

 

Promotional Planning:

  • Assess weekly, monthly, and seasonal promotional activity planning by account and by door
  • Partner with Marketing team on Gifts with Purchase programs and store event retail targets
  • Lead new product launch pre-sell programs, if applicable
  • Assist with advertising negotiation for print and in-store displays/activations
  • Work directly with corporate buying offices and regional field leaders to gain commitment to the plan, ensure all promotional planning is executed, and to program any activities, incentives, or marketing vehicles necessary

 

Financial Sales Budget Control:

  • Track field co-op management and planning by account and by door
  • Report co-op performance against budget by territory to VP Sales
  • Maintain account chargeback tracking and reconciliation for store programs
  • Oversee monthly co-op accrual

 

Product SKU Planning:

  • Provide planning totals detail by country, account, door, and territory
  • Work alongside marketing to identify and develop retail driven promotions that support growth of new products and existing business
  • Track and review targets vs actual performance of new products (weekly and monthly)
  • Ensure forecasts are adjusted based on business needs by working closely with Demand Planner (La Prairie)

 

Sales Incentive Planning: 

  • Own incentive budget management, actualization and reporting
  • Develop bonus incentive program to drive retail sales by account and by door
  • Execute seasonal bonus program for the Account Executives aligned with Make the Season targets
  • Calculate then communicate any bonus/incentive payments/programs to HR

 

To be our next audacious talent you will need:

  • Minimum 4 year Finance or Business degree
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Familiarity with PowerPoint
  • Leadership and experience managing a team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must work well with inter-departmental groups and members
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Pro-active and efficient time management skills
  • Beauty experience helpful, but not required
