Objective:
The primary purpose of the Logistics Compliance Specialist is to ensure accurate and compliant product classification under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTSUS) and Schedule B, manage the company’s duty drawback program, and support broader logistics compliance needs. This role helps the company remain compliant with U.S. and international trade regulations while optimizing duty recovery opportunities and supporting operational compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Classify products accurately in accordance with HTSUS, Schedule B, and other applicable tariff schedules, ensuring data integrity in company systems. Research and interpret classification rulings, explanatory notes, and related resources. Collaborate with internal teams to obtain the necessary product technical data for classification
- Manage the full duty drawback process, including gathering import/export documentation, reconciling records, submitting claims to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, tracking status, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory timelines. Identify opportunities to expand or optimize drawback recovery
- Assist with other logistics compliance activities, including import/export documentation, denied party screening, country of origin verification, and compliance recordkeeping. Support Dangerous Goods compliance processes as needed
- Monitor changes in regulations and tariff schedules, communicate potential impacts to stakeholders, and recommend process adjustments to maintain compliance
- Support compliance audits, both internal and external, and provide training to internal stakeholders on classification and duty drawback processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Logistics, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 3 years of experience in product classification, customs compliance, or duty drawback administration preferred
- Knowledge of HTSUS classification rules, GRI principles, and Schedule B codes required
- Familiarity with U.S. duty drawback regulations required
- Understanding of U.S. import/export regulations (CBP, BIS, EAR, ITAR) and international trade rules required
- Experience with ERP, WMS, and compliance software systems required
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications required
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities required
- Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations (IATA, IMDG, 49 CFR) a plus
