Objective

The Aviation Maintenance Training (AMT) Instructor is responsible to provide effective classroom, lab, and shop instruction, assist with the development and maintenance of curriculum, evaluate and encourage student development as a professional missionary aviator and provide occasional supervision of other projects as assigned. 

It is important to remember that as we equip students with the tools of aviation technology, our core purpose is to invest in young men and women through mentorship and life on life discipleship, instilling within them a heart and passion honor the King with their lives. Therefore, mentoring co-workers and students in a manner that demonstrates the department’s concerns of caring for people, achieving and maintaining excellence and increasing effectiveness, is a key component of the instructor’s role.

Essential Functions

  • Exercise conservative judgment and safety awareness in all operations.
  • Provide strong spiritual, emotional, technical and professional modeling for students.
  • Model and abide by the Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations and the Moody Aviation Operations Manual.
  • Prepare course materials and provide classroom instruction.
  • Provide practical lab instruction.
  • Upgrade curriculum, training aids, and lab components to maintain currency with federal regulations, industry standards, and mission organization requirements.
  • Demonstrate and supervise student use of specialized lab and shop equipment.
  • Demonstrate practical troubleshooting and repair of aircraft components.
  • Maintain proper condition, cleanliness and safety of work areas.
  • Provide technical guidance for lab assistants or assigned instructors, supervising to ensure technical accuracy, teaching methods and proper preparation of materials.
  • Maintain high standards in the completion of maintenance school documents for correctness and currency including but not limited to, student training records, logbooks, airman applications, finance reports and other 147 records.
  • Participate in departmental, school, and other assigned faculty meetings.
  • Provide feedback to assist with the development, implementation, maintenance, review and update of the maintenance training curriculum.
  • Within their capability and time constraints, Instructors are encouraged to be involved in students’ lives outside of the classroom to provide a platform for mentoring and development of foundational life skills necessary of a missionary.
  • Participate in various committees as assigned.
  • Represent Moody Aviation to prospective students and various community events.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

          Minimum Requirements

          • Bachelor’s degree
          • A&P Certification
          • Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
          • Strong instructional skills and teaching experience
          • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software
          • Authorized to work in the US legally without sponsorship

          Preferred Requirements

          • Master’s degree
          • Ten years of aviation maintenance experience and/or mission aviation field experience
          • Inspection Authorization
          • FAA approved Flight Instructor (CFI) Airplane Single Engine Land (ASEL)
          • Ability to publicly represent Moody Aviation

          This job operates in both an office and aircraft maintenance shop environment.  This role routinely uses standard office and aircraft equipment and tools.

          While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit. This position will frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, finger or feel and reach with hands and arms.  This position is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

          Occasional local and domestic air travel.
