Position Summary

This position provides extraordinary service by ensuring loan servicing activities are completed according to Credit Union policies and procedures and applicable government regulations including FNMA, FHLMC and other applicable investor guidelines.  This position is also responsible for monitoring portfolios of Commercial, Residential, and Consumer Loans.  Mentors staff, develops and trains employees to perform various servicing functions.  Maintains a positive leadership role with staff and works to achieve a cohesive team.


Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Loan Servicing Activity

  • Ensures timely payments of taxes and insurance from Member escrow accounts, accurate rate adjustments, and insurance tracking
  • Maintains and increases knowledge and explores usages of the Core Processing and other lending systems to enhance workflow, ensure efficiencies, and support current and new loan products
  • Oversees loan quality control for all closed loans and ensures proper tracking and resolution of outstanding items
  • Maintains, increases, and shares knowledge of industry standards with other employees and actively maintains ties with other loan servicing professionals to stay attuned to the future needs of the organization and membership

Reporting/Monitoring/Audits

  • Assists in coordinating and executing projects relating to loan systems and practices
  • Assists in documenting, implementing, maintaining, and enforcing compliance to all policies and procedures related to loan servicing
  • Provides reporting on the loan portfolio as requested by supervisor, Credit Committee, or Senior Management; actively participates in Credit Union committees, including but not limited to, Credit Committee (participant only), Systems Advisory Council, and others as requested by supervisor or Senior Management
  • Participates in and prepares responses to internal audits and examinations and adjusts department procedures accordingly
  • Establishes and manages assigned vendor relationships and acts as System Administrator for assigned technologies; completes related due diligence and risk assessment activities as required

Employee Engagement & Staff Development

  • Actively participates in the education and training process of all employees relating to new/revised loan processes and procedures and other loan compliance related training                        
  • Attends training and seminars as requested by Supervisor and mandated by the Credit Union; attends professional and vendor user groups, conferences, etc. in order to maintain, increase, and share knowledge of industry standards with employees and actively maintain ties with other industry professionals to stay current on industry impacts to their department/organization    
  • Effective management in maintaining a highly motivated, well-trained staff.   Ensures all employees have appropriate training and development plans including the recommendation of appropriate external and internal training as necessary for staff development.

  • Mentors staff, develops and trains employees to perform various servicing functions  
  • Maintains a positive leadership role with staff and works to achieve a cohesive team

Knowledge and Skills

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Two to five years progressive experience in Real Estate and/or Consumer loan servicing, including supervision/management of staff
  • Thorough knowledge of secondary market, including sales of loans and underwriting guidelines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience in Windows, Microsoft Office, financial core processing lending systems

Physical Requirements

  • Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. 
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. 
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. 
  • Must be able to work additional hours whenever required or requested by management. 
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
  • Must be able to prioritize work, maintain engagement and productivity in a remote work environment.
