Job Description:
The role
Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a full-time Escrow/Accounts Receivable Coordinator to join its Finance team. This role is responsible for managing daily cash receipts, escrow accounts, and general accounting responsibilities while ensuring compliance with ABA and state bar trust accounting regulations. The position requires close collaboration with the Billing, Collections, and Partner teams to maintain financial accuracy and efficiency. This role will be based in Houston and reports to the Regional Chief Finance Officer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cash Receipts & Escrow Management
- Record and reconcile daily cash receipts, including wires, lockbox deposits, and manual payments for the U.S. and São Paulo offices.
- Maintain and monitor escrow accounts in compliance with legal trust accounting regulations.
- Verify client bank details before processing transactions to mitigate financial risks.
- Collaborate with Billing, Collections, and Partners to resolve payment discrepancies and ensure accurate reporting.
Monthly General Ledger Close
- Prepare journal entries for accruals, prepaid expenses, and necessary reclassifications.
- Identify and correct misallocated transactions across financial accounts.
- Record interoffice invoices and ensure timely processing.
- Conduct monthly account analyses to verify financial accuracy and compliance.
Other Financial Responsibilities
- Assist managing the Firm's budget process alongside the Regional CFO.
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with financial audits.
- Support ad hoc financial requests as needed.
Qualifications:
Your experience
- 3-5 years of accounts receivable experience in a law firm or professional services environment required
- Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred.
- Proven track record of providing superior client service while building a strong rapport at all levels of an organization with both internal and external clients
- Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate flexibility with competing demands of internal and external clients
- Must be a strategic, analytical thinker with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be detailed oriented with the ability to readily identify issues that could impede processes while taking the initiative to provide solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision within a team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to adhere and comply to the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week
- Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000. The actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
