POSITION SUMMARY:
This is an advanced position responsible for assisting the Technical Team in meeting the customers’ demands and helping ensure that NPAA remains the market leader in automotive OEM coatings. This team member utilizes well-developed know-how in dispersion and coatings chemistry and end-use to provide problem solving guidance for projects critical to business success. This position is building key customer/supplier and strong interdepartmental relationships. The senior chemist provides business process and technical training to other chemists. Participates in new business or internal business process improvement opportunities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilize lab-scale pigment dispersion equipment to prepare prototype samples
Characterize and analyze dispersion samples used in coating formulations.
Collaborate with internal technical and operations teams to understand coatings and manufacturing process requirements.
Engage with raw material and equipment suppliers to stay informed on industry trends and latest developments.
Support manufacturing scale-up trials both on-site and off-site.
Assist with dispersion manufacturing operations within NPAA
Prepare internal reports and drafts for management review, adhering to project schedules.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree in a science-related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
Proven experience with pigment dispersion.
Familiarity with common dispersing techniques and horizontal mill usage.
Ability to handle paints and chemicals safely, following required PPE protocols.
Strong willingness and ability to learn and improve.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
