About the Department

The Temp Staffing Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) and contracted staffing agencies. This position coordinates the temporary staffing needs of all HCTRA departments. Reviews applications and resumes of temporary candidates to hiring managers and coordinates interviews and orientations as necessary. The Temp Staffing Coordinator performs temporary employee onboarding and processes the temp employment paperwork and background check documents. Assists with auditing and submitting temporary staff timesheets to staffing agencies on a weekly basis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs Temporary and Contractor staff onboarding; including processing temporary employment documents, background checks, etc.
  • Coordinates temporary staffing needs of all HCTRA departments by liaising with contracted staffing agencies to fulfill requests; reviews applications and resumes of temporary candidates and submits to hiring managers; coordinates interviews as necessary.
  • Communicates releases and resignations between HCTRA and staffing agencies.
  • Other Ad-hoc projects, reports, audits, etc as assigned.
  • Assists with other Temp Staffing duties.

Position Duties

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum three (1) years' experience in human resources, Administrative, or similar position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Accurate date entry skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials with considerable personal tact and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and adapt to changing demands and requests.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office suite and learn new software programs when needed.
  • Ability to be an effective team player.
Physical Demands:
Light work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

Minimum Qualifications

Position Type and Typical Hours Work:

  • This is a full time position.
  •  Days of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. 
Work Environment:

There are no major sources of discomfort. A normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions is provided. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Supervises Positions: N/A

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards. 
Due to a high volume of applications positions may close prior to the advertised closing date or at the discretion of the Hiring Department.
