Job Overview

As Principal, Warranty IT Solutions Design you are responsible for leading the architecture, development, and operational management of key aftersales applications and services within the Engineering Services Warranty Systems portfolio. You serve as the main point of contact between business stakeholders, engineering teams, and external partners to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and MBUSA compliant solutions that support warranty operations and improve customer service.

You will drive the adoption and integration of modern API technologies, AWS Cloud services, and GenAI (Generative AI) solutions to enhance system interoperability, scalability, and innovation across the Mercedes-Benz application landscape. This includes designing and implementing robust API-driven integrations, leveraging AWS Cloud infrastructure for application development, deployment and management, and implementing GenAI use cases to automate processes, improve customer experience, and support data-driven decision-making.

You will also be tasked with gathering business requirements, ensuring compliance with PMO and IT Security policies, collaborating cross-functionally with IT teams, and supporting application upgrades and migrations while ensuring operational stability and system performance.

Responsibilities

- Successful project implementations, support and development of MBUSA Aftersales Warranty Systems. These systems are intended to support specific business needs for MBUSA Home office, field and dealers.

- Define and manage product roadmaps for Warranty Systems aligning with business goals and requirements

- Accelerates Digital Transformation by validating user requirements via UAT, securing approvals, and leading approved system enhancements with minimal disruption, aligning with Mercedes-Benz’s overall system architecture strategy.

- Oversee the development and monitoring of dashboards (e.g., DataDog) for Engineering Services applications, ensuring uptime and performance.

- Drives Operational Excellence through Automation by introducing process automation and AI-driven solutions to eliminate manual inefficiencies.

- Manage warranty data flows, including file processing, data synching, and historical data reconciliation.

- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues in a timely manner.

- Consultant & Vendor Governance: Defines project scopes, manages external consultants, and ensures high-quality, cost-efficient technical outcomes aligned with Mercedes-Benz IT standards.

- Change Management & UAT: Conducts impact analysis of system change requests, validates enhancements through UAT, and executes implementations with rollback plans to ensure stability and security.

- Support security alignment meetings and ensure adherence to internal audit and security policies. Lead remediation efforts for high-risk audit findings and support change management processes.

- Act as the technical owner contact for internal and external stakeholders, including managed services providers as necessary. 

- Protects business reputation by ensuring rapid incident resolution, maximizing system uptime, and minimizing disruptions that could impact dealer satisfaction and customer loyalty.

Qualifications

Knowledge (necessary to perform proficiently in this job)

Must have a total of 7-10 years of experience in the following areas, with 2-5 years specifically in Generative AI (GenAI):

Software Development Background:

-Familiarity with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and experience working with tools like JIRA, Confluence or similar for enterprise software development and project management.

- Hands-on experience with JAVA based applications, microservices, RESTful APIs, and system integrations to ensure seamless data flow between enterprise systems. Kafka is a plus.

-Proficiency in AWS Cloud services, infrastructure-as-code, with a strong understanding of Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps

-Demonstrated experience with GenAI platforms, services, and tools, and their practical implementation within enterprise AWS environments.

IT Systems Knowledge:

-Experience with designing, developing and managing FOSS (Free Open Source System) Java based applications and Restful APIs.

- Application Monitoring and Reporting: Proficiency in application monitoring and report tools (e.g., DataDog) to analyze application health, troubleshoot issues and report usage metrics.

Product Management Skills:

- Requirement Gathering and Prioritization: Ability to translate business needs from stakeholders into technical requirements and prioritize features.

- Stakeholder Management: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, sales operations, and external vendors.

- User Story Creation: Proficiency in writing clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria to guide development teams.

Soft Skills and Leadership:

- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues or system errors and propose effective solutions.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience working with diverse teams, including developers, QA engineers, business analysts, and technicians.

Decision-Making: 

- Strong judgment to make trade-off decisions under tight deadlines, balancing technical feasibility, business needs, and customer impact.

 

Education

Bachelor’s Degree (accredited school) with emphasis in:

Industrial Engineering

Must have 7-10 years (total) of experience in the following:
